  1. I think it has happened. Again, I'm not saying someone will select Jimenez. For one thing, there are probably more promising single A players available than him. I'm just saying, things have changed from the "normal" way people look at their rosters, and some teams are totally tanking for 2022. Hell, a couple teams actually have no guaranteed contracts on the books, right now and just a few arb players. Teams are looking 2-5 years down the road and that extra roster slot is enticing.
  2. He can before, though, and the Sox have been linked to his name. (Maybe they'd trade Renfroe?) If he gets $55M/5 as projected, and we trade Renfroe and DFA Plawekci, we'd be adding about $2M to the 2022 budget.
  3. I admitted it is not ideal for developing a player, but the whole "wasting a roster spot" has new meaning now. 1. There is a 26th slot that was never there for over 100 years until 2020. 2. Several teams are in obvious tank mode and are looking for prized young players who might help 2-4 years from now. I'm not sure any GM will see Jimenez in that light and value him enough to let him hardly develop at all for one year, just on the hopes he can improve greatly afterwards, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Many "experts" had us projected to protect him. Why? I agree on stunted growth but the wasted roster spot on a team like the O's and Pirates is mute. Hell, he might already be close to as good as their 26th man.
  4. I just don't get why you are giving up so easily on a player in the meat of his prime coming off two seasons with an OPS over .858 before having a .720 season in 2021. 3 year numbers: .292/.335/.480/ .815 Sure, he's missed some time, but so have most Yankee players. PA ranking on Yanks: 2021: 6th with 442 (20 from being 5th) 2020: 5th with 174 (5 from being 4th) 2019: 5th with 476 (35 from being 4th) He ranks middle of the pack in fWAR for 3Bmen from 2019-2021 (5.5) Middle of the pack in OPS. Better than average defense (+2.2 UZR/150)
  5. Seiya Suzuki to be posted Monday morning.
  6. Maybe he was joking here, too. With almost everything posted being Comic or absurd, it's hard to tell.
  7. 1. Many teams are in tank mode. 2. The 26th slot is a luxury that was not there before. 3. Jimenez can play as a defensive replacement and could even get some ABs, although I agree, this isn't the ideal way to develop a player in great need of a full development year. I'm not saying it will happen, but circumstances have changed in the last two years. I do think Feltman will be selected, because he can pitch in the bigs, next season. Santos is kind of like Jimenez. Cottam may be picked just because good catchers are scarce, but some GM will have to really like him.
  8. I know a lot of posters want us to replace ERod in kind or with someone even better. I'd like that, too. I think Montas fits that bill, and maybe Jon Gray is close to even. However, we also have to replace Perez, Richards and Ottavino. To me, guys like Matz, Duffy & Graveman would be an improvement on those three, but it's no certainty. We should also see 100+ more IP from Sale and a few more from Houck, Brasier and others, but of course less from some who might get hurt or struggle, unexpectedly.
  9. That's what I thought. I think we'll do with something like 2 from Matz, Jon Gray or Duffy, unless we trade for someone, then sign a RP'er or two. 3-4 decent pitchers. Where they plan on using Houck and Whitlock may determine who they sign. Who they sign may determine where Houck and Whitlock end up being slotted. They may be flexible going into this winter is my point.
  10. It's comic relief.

  12. I’d hate to lose Jimenez. I’m big on defense up the middle but he may end up being no more promising than Rosario- someone I’m okay with DFAing. I also like Santos. I’m not concerned about Feltman, but someone might take him.
  13. We might lose two and draft one. Maybe that’s a reason we kept some slots open.
  14. I get that, but some teams do t even have all that promising players at 39 & 40 either, including the Sox. That’s actually one reason I was surprised we only protected 4 when we have guys likePotts and Plawecki taking up slots. I think several tams are going to swoop on multiple Rule 5 selections , this year.
  15. Honestly? You’ve said more absurd things and meant it, like in this very post claiming Bloom cost us the WS. There’s no way anyone could ever know that was a joke. Honestly.
  16. The 26 man roster really changes things, too. It’s much easier for teams, especially the few teams in tank mode to stash one or even two highly talented but far away prospects on their 26 man roster. I will not be surprised if Jimenez and Santos are drafted.
  17. 1/3 chance of winning!
  18. I’d say the second $25M had something to do with the choice.
  19. I’m not surprised Santos and Feltman weren’t protected, and Jimenez is so far away. I never really thought Cottam would be selected, but I’m surprised only 4 were selected. It means they like guys like Potts,Rosario and Arauz more than them.
  20. Yes, I would have colored Beni blue, but this list is only showing those who are borderline 40 man roster players..
  21. Our 37 Man Roster: Red= DFA Candidates (Trade, if we can get something) Blue= Trade Candidates C (4) Vazquez, Plawecki, Wong, R Hernandez 1B (2) Dalbec, Casas 2B (2) Arroyo, Downs SS (2) Bogaerts, Arauz 3B (2) Devers, Potts LF (2) Verdugo, Duran CF (2) Kike, Locastro RF (2) Renfroe, Rosario DH (1) Martinez SP (9) Eovaldi, Sale, Pivetta, Seabold, Crawford, Winckowski, Groome, Bello, Mata RP (10) Houck, Whitlock, Barnes, Taylor, Brasier, DHern, Sawamura, Davis, Bazardo, Valdez
  22. More likely we DFA one or more from Potts, Rosario and Arauz. We may non-tender Plawecki. We still have 3 open slots on the roster and might claim a player or two off waivers before looking at free agents and trades. We may draft someone in Rule 5.
  23. He’s okay, but aren’t there plenty like him put on waivers every year?
  24. Must mean we plan on adding 3 or more players.
