  1. Good to see Bobby Dee with 2 hits and a hard out.
  2. Did JBJ more than double raise his OPS, today?
  3. They had been the best part of our team until 3 minutes ago.
  4. I'd rather have ERod than Paxton + Hill (about the same money on lux tax)
  5. Did not have to. It was an arb, and I'm sure we could have traded him for a non 40 man roster prospect, alone.
  6. 101 pitches in his second start.
  7. Hard to argue, except for maybe Manny & Trout. Best 10 years stretches: 1.055 Pujols ('01-'10 first 10 seasons) 1.032 Manny ('99-'08) 1.011 Trout ('12-'21) .983 ARod ('98-07) and .976 over 13 seasons .980 Miggy ('06-'15) .962 Papi ('03-'12) and .956 over the last 14 years of his career Manny also put up a 1.010 OPS over 15 seasons ('95-'09)
  8. I think he was under-rated by many Sox fans and posters. Since he was called up in 2015, he's ... 38th in starter fWAR at 14.4 38th in IP, despite missing 2020 50th in FIP
  9. Good to see a bust out. We needed this!
  10. He might try fielding himself, first.
  11. And, at his age, some don't think he's elite enough to get a large on long deal. Devers Forevers!
  12. Suzuki is making $7M, this year. JBJ is making $9.5. I wasn't talking long term, that's why I said per year, meaning this season. It's close if looking at lux tax: JBJ is making $12M this year with an $8M buyout for '23. We will likely keep him for 2023 at $12M, so I guess I should not count the $8M as spent for 2022. I should have been more specific.
  13. Top minor league pitchers w 4+ IP, so far... 0.00 Padron-Artiles (6 IP/ .261 OPS Against) 0.00 Walter (5.0/ .192) 0.00 Bello (5.0/ .461) 0.00 Stock (4.0/ .354) 1.69 Schreiber (5.1/ .673 1.80 Winckowski (5.0/ .544) 1.80 Santos (5.0/ .556) 2.25 Murphy (4.0/ .690) 2.25 Van Belle (4.0/ .694) 3.18 D Hern (5.2/ .277) 3.72 Pannone (9.2/ .707) Between Pannone, Padron-Artiles, Bello & Walter, these 4 guys have only 1 BB in 25.2 IP and a whopping 36 Ks!
  14. They could have traded Renfroe for peanuts and just signed Suzuki for less than JBJ is making per year.
  15. Other pitchers have options. Sometimes, that matters more than who is doing better.
  16. Does an extra day or two off, early in a season, really help keep players fresher, stronger and possibly healthier late in the season?
  17. Bogey sitting. Man, Cora sure likes to give players days off. (Is Bogey hurt?)
  18. If all 8 are healthy, we may not need to have one starter go 7. The rest of the pen should be well-rested and can handle pitching 4-6 innings.
  19. An assortment of pitches that are all good ones.
  20. You think, in Fenway, they might play Aroyo in LF and Verdugo in RF? Could we see Fitzy called up?
  21. My offensive expectations for JBJ are very low, this year, so I'm not really all that concerned. I do think, if he continues to not get on base, Cora will play him less and less.
  22. Certainly possible. I'm still not sure where Yorke will end up. Did you see Mayer went 3 for 6 and his BA dropped? Hickey hit a granny to bring Salem to 4-0 on the young season.
  23. soxprospects has Casas at 1B in 2023 and Dalbec at DH. It's hard to imagine an in the system player taking over 3B, if Devers bolts. Dalbec? Fitzy? Binelas? Hamilton? Jordan is too far away and may be better suited for 1B. If Mayer is up to start 2024, who plays SS- maybe Mayer at SS and Story at 2B?
