Exactly, and he 100% has the right to make his own choices. IMO, it cost more than $45K to Houck. It cost the team and fans, too, by increasing the odds we lose. As a fan, I have the right to not like that, and wish he would choose the team over his personal beliefs or preferences, but nobody should be ab le to force him to get vaxxed. My opinion is also that he should have to pay more than just for missed games, but I know the agreed upon rules don't allow for that. I'm not advocating the team or league break the rules. I'm just stating my feelings, and no I don't think it's political.

There is a difference not playing 140+ games due to injury vs manager's choice, but yes, Kike was not a part-timer or sub from 2017-2019. I think the word "utility" can be viewed differently by people, and often times they are players who can play multiple positions well enough to not embarrass themselves, or they can be short-term emergency fill-ins, in case of injury or late inning PG/defensive replacement situation. I think that is a common view, but Kike does not really fit that notion. He's an excellent CF'er (and OF'er), and a clear plus at 2B and SS. He could easily fill a FT role in many positions, but because he's so good, defensively at many positions, managers use him at many positions. That should never be viewed as a negative, and Red will tell you he never intended saying he was a "utility man for the Dodgers" as anything negative, but I think otherwise. (Just my opinion.) Talking about Kike's offense is certainly up for serious debate, but I would just like to see people use their chosen criteria consistently, and not use BA with one guy, RBI with another, but then RBI's ignored for another guy, and high K rates being the tell-all stat of choice. Or, they pull out the old, "Well, many of his RBIs came in just one week," over and over, despite me showing a certain player is still among the top 2-3 in rbis, when you take away everyone's RBI best week. That falls on deaf ear, and I think it's because posters have preconceived feelings about certain players, and they find stats or excuses to justify their belief. Don't get me wrong, I do it, too. Most posters do to some degree, but trying to keep the rubric or criteria consistent should be everybody's goal, IMO.

I'm not saying break the rules and fine him more than allowed. I know the CBA covered it I'm just stating my opinion that screwing your team over should cost a player more than game pay. I also wish there were robo umps, now, and a few other things. It's not wrong to hold differing opinions, unless you are Swi or Red (lol).

I think players should lose more than just pay for games missed. On trading Houck or Sale, I'd only be for it, if we got equal or better value in return, just like anyone else. I might be more likely to want to trade them, because of this, and it's not political.

The team did not approve the vacation. It's unapproved for a reason Houck and others chose, along with the Canadian government. Sports players have to follow the rules like everyone else. If they choose not to, they and the teams and fans suffer the consequences. At least they won't end up in a Russian prison.

It did get that way, yes, but to me, this is a team issue. You do what it takes to help your team win or be in a better position to win. I don't think it's political to think a team should be able to fine a player for taking an unapproved vacation during a season.

Great game by Duran and several others. I've shown some disdain towards Duran over the last couple years, but he's coming through, now. Let's hope he can keep it up. These are games often lost by most teams, even against teams like the Tigers.

He is an excellent defensive CF'er, and it's always nice to have middle IF depth, in case of injury or need of rest. That has a lot of value on a team with just one other really good defensive CF/RF'er in Fenway (JBJ). Having excellent meiddle IF'ers and no clear CF'er to play, if Kike moves to the IF, does hurt his versatility value, though. You are right.

It doesn't work that way. Even if we pay 100% of their contracts, he doesn't want them. He might want Davis, because he's cheap, has some years of team control left, and is good enough to maybe build some future trade value. I'm not sure why you put Davis on the your lists.

Nobody expected Kike's playoff numbers to continue, nor his 80 game stretch before the playoffs. My point was that it matters little to some, how well he does, if his BA is around .240 he's not to be praised. If he's too good at several positions to hold one down full time, but gets more games and PAs than most regulars, he's nothing more than a utility man.

I'd say, if you really have to fill a need to identify trolling, the real trolling (slight as it was) was jacko saying pitching doesn't slump. I replied is a way you clearly don't get. Quit while you are behind. Do yourself a favor.
