  1. I wish we’d spend on one good starter instead of three questionable ones.
  2. Who? Swihart? He doesn't count.
  3. I get that, but again, if they are going to base anything on performance, what is currently out there as a better option?
  4. A solid connection is rare, as usually the pitcher is back-tracking and or ducking.
  5. I get that, but if they do run with this, any measure they choose will be flawed and criticized.
  6. Who is saying the world is ending?
  7. bWAR and fWAR are not just one stat, but your point is still well-taken. The problem is, if you are going to tie pay to performance, you have to use something to measure the full value of a player.
  8. I used to think he was a troll, but it's clear he's just an idiot.
  9. WOR lost 10-8 Fitzy hit his 5th Casas hit his 4th Y Sanchez hit his 3rd Stewart hit his 2nd (Nobody has 2+ hits, but Ramos walked 3 times, Downs, Cordero & Sanchez walked twice.) DHern & Hartlieb got lit up.) POR won 12-5 Potts 4-5 w 2nd HR & 2B Koss 3-4 w 1st HR Hamilton 1-1 w BB, pulled from game Santos got shelled GRV lost 4-1 Yorke 1-4 Salem in extra innings Mayer 4-5 w two 2Bs Kavadas 2-3 2 2B & BB Paulino 2-4 w 2B & BB W Gonzalez 4 IP 4 H 0 ER 3 BB 6 K
  10. DHern - OUCH! 1.2 IP 1 H 5 ER 4 BB 1 K Hamilton went 1 for 1 w a BB, but was yanked. Any word on why? Potts with a dinger.
  11. Game by Game Breakdown Starters IP/ER vs Relievers IP/ER SP- RP L 5.0/3 - 5.0/1 (2 ghost runs allowed) L 5.2/4 - 2.1/0 W 3.1/3 - 5.2/1 L 4.1/1 - 3.2/2 W 4.1/3 - 4.2/0 W 5.0/2 - 4.0/5 L 2.0/5 - 7.0/4 W 5.2/0 - 3.1/0 W 5.0/0 - 4.0/1 L 4.2/4 - 4.1/4 W 4.2/1 - 4.1/1 L 4.0/5 - 5.0/1 L 5.0/2 - 4.0/1 W 5.0/2- 4.0/0 L 4.0/0- 5.2/3 L 4.0/ 0- 4.0/5 L 7.0/2- 1.0/4 The pen has done better in 8 games. The starters have done better in 7. They did about the same in 2 games. The pen as done okay to well in 11 games. The starters have done okay to well in 10 games.
  12. Had hopes there, at the end, but no such luck.
  13. Maybe once we go to an 8 man pen, he'll be ready.
  14. Bats need to come alive, and soon!
  15. Indeed, and once Sale or Paxton joins the staff, we can move the lowest starter to the pen for some long relief action.
  16. You'd bench Kike & JD most of the time?
  17. This would be better: 1. Story 2B 2. Devers 3B 3. JD DH 4. Bogey SS 5. Verdugo LF 6. Kike CF 7. Dalbec 1B 8. JBJ/Arroyo RF 9. Vaz/Plawecki C
  18. Taking Whitlock out of the pen to place him in the rotation may happen full time, at some point, this year, but I worry about the affect on the pen, especially after we go from a 10 man pen to 8. This looks pretty nice, though: 1. Eovaldi 2. Houck 3. Whitlock 4. Wacha 5. Pivetta (Hill as piggyback with Pivetta or Wacha?) If and when Sale & Paxton join the rotation, it will be interesting to see the choices made, then.
  19. Too bad we couldn't have talked them (and ourselves) into Kelly, Kalish & Anderson- maybe throw in Ranaudo.
  20. He was great when we got him and while with us, but he fell off a cliff shortly after we traded him to LA.
  21. In hindsight, yes. Plus, the money saved might have allowed us to keep Beltre.
  22. Interesting, but sounds very reasonable.
  23. If we move Whitlock to the rotation, we'll need someone (Valdez?) to be our long man, and the demoted starter should not be that main guy.
  24. His velocity has not improved, at all? I'm not doubting your information, but I'm just wondering. Where do you find this sort of information?
  25. We did the right think trading this pansy.
