  1. I'd say this crop matches 2013 and 2006 looks like the point where we look to as being the last time we had better. Just my opinion.
  2. To me, the only "plan" is Sale and Paxton joining the staff and pushing others down by attrition. I'm not sure how well the starters pushed into the pen will do, unless it's Whitlock and or Houck.
  3. Maybe Bloom had better scouts and a better organization with the Rays. Maybe it was just good luck with the Rays or bad luck with us. Also, our pen has done pretty well with under the radar arms under Bloom with the Sox- certainly better than expected.
  4. Binelas & Hamilton may crack the top 20, by mid season.
  5. Yes, I expected Bloom to build a good pen, but the pen I saw on paper, this spring was not what I had hoped for. That was one reason I preferred having Houck at closer and Whitlock as the magic man.
  6. When is the last time we've had 4 pitching prospects with good outlooks and another 4 that might turn out okay, if they can get over injuries and military service time?
  7. When we went up 2-0 after being no-hit for 9 innings, I thought that might be the "spring board" game. Nope!
  8. I lived in Milwaukee during the Bart Starr and Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul Jabbar eras. Yup.
  9. Marcus Smart may be the key. Beating the Bucks (my team) got easier as Middleton is out with a knee injury. Brooklyn's Durant is starting to create whispers.
  10. Did anyone really expect the pen to keep being that good?
  11. It did seem shocking, to me, we took Eovaldi out, but maybe there was a reason we don't know about.
  12. We need some fresh mojo on the game threads.
  13. April has been Devers' worst or second worst month in his career. I'm not too worried about him, but this slump does seem to be contagious. Maybe just having everyone healthy and in the line-up might be a good first step,
  14. True. This "tough times" was helped along by key errors and ghost runners.
  15. Great point, but the risk is, what if we go 8 games in a row where we are ahead or behind by 5 runs?
  16. We seem to be much later releasing our line-ups than many other teams. Anyone know why? Is Bill Belichik part of Sox management?
  17. The savior!
  18. TOR 1. Springer CF 2. Bichette SS 3. Vlad 1B 4. Gurriel DH 5. Chapman 3B 6. Kirk C 7. Tapia LF 8. Espinal 2B 9. Zimmer RF (I guess the bottom of our order is not the only weak hitting bottom in MLB.)
  19. I'm undefeated in fresh game threads. Let's hope we can keep that going and also win more than just the first game thread.
  20. Big Nate vs Jose Berrios Get it done, Nate!
  21. You said more than that.
  22. I'm avoiding getting political, so yes, that's my final answer.
  23. I'm not one to look at only the previous season to form my expectations for the season, and at the time, I did not think the 2012 rotation was as bad as their numbers showed they were. 28 Lester 32 Beckett 33 Lackey (missed 2012) 27 Buch 24 Doubront 31 Dice-K added Dempster, who I was not too thrilled about. I know it's hard to keep hindsight out of the equation, but I think that rotation was stronger than this one is.
  24. Yup, no expert you are.
