  1. Some awesome OPS Against numbers, this early season (5+ IP): .133 Groome .246 Walter .264 Suero .281 DHern .384 G Jackson .393 A Bautista .405 Roedahl .461 Hartlieb .478 Gonzalez .501 Seabold .503 Stock .514 Winckowski .536 Arredondo .544 Bello .661 Murphy Best OPS (24+ ABs) 1.403 Lugo 1.369 Fitzy 1.283 Rafaela 1.151 Refsnyder (9BB/8Ks) 1.105 Hamilton (5BB/5K) 1.074 Cordero 1.027 Kavadas .997 Y Sanchez (9BB/7K) .994 Binelas .984 Casas (9BB/9K) Notables: .883 Duran .851 Mayer .716 Downs (21 Ks in 43 ABs) .743 Yorke 1.040 Hickey .939 Jimenez .890 Bonaci (13 BB & 5 ks!)
  2. I loved the trade. I remember telling my brothers-in-law, "We just traded Nomar and are going to win it all!" They replied, "Who did we get?" "Orlando Cabrera," I relied. "Orlando who?" they said in unison. Nomar was an over-rated defender, and OCab was a stellar defender at SS, and not a bad hitter, either. I just never knew Nomar was traded, because of his face, until now. Thanks for the scoop!
  3. Take one for the team takes on a new meaning.
  4. Traded over a poopy face. This beats Beer gate!
  5. Didn't they catch him lying about when and how he got injured?
  6. Not many posters are saying we should trade Bogey, if we are still in the hunt, but I guess how much of a chance we have at the deadline might be up for debate. I would not trade Bogey, if we have a good chance to make the playoffs, but I would not be upset, if we did trade him while our team does not look like a ring contender. (Note: I am not one who believes the "playoffs are a crapshoot.") BTW, Nomar was not the only example under Henry. On September 4th, 2006, the 75-64 Red Sox were 6 games behind the wild card slot (MN), and we traded David Wells for a prospect (Kottaras). I remember several posters on the old site being upset we were raising the white flag, too early. We ended up finishing 10 behind at 86-76.
  7. I have to start paying attention to K%. I've always looked at K/BB.
  8. Bello finally walked his first and only batter, this season and took a tough loss. 5 IP 2 ER 2 H (both HRs) 1 BB 8 K Hamilton went 3 for 4. Woo got shelled 19-11. Pannone blew up his good stats by allowing 9 hits and 7 runs in 4 IP. Holland got shelled. Maybe I should just list those who didn't get shelled: cue crickets. Stewart hit a granny. Cordero 2-5 w 2B Casas 2-4 w 2B & BB Downs 2-5 Duran 1-4 w 3 Ks Greenville won 10-9 as Padron-Artlies just about duplicated Pannone's numbers. Lugo, Yorke, McDonough & Groshams with 2 hits each. Groshams & Jimenez with a taters.
  9. That might be your worst 3-5 inning guys, but the days of rest availability might get tricky, if someone is shelled, early. Might need a 14 man staff.
  10. I thought you could tell me. Like an App on your phone that notifies you every time a Sox minor leaguer hits a tater.
  11. Yes, and other agents and players have done it often.
  12. Arroyo or Kike or Fitzy.
  13. That would be very surprising, but with Bogey's no-trade clause, they'd need him to okay a trade, either way, and maybe this posturing made that an easier aspect of the idea.
  14. I'm not so sure. saying someone has a 12 K/9 rate is easier for me to fathom than saying he has a 1.25 K/IP rate. I do think K% will be the stat people look to. That's more about K's per PAs than innings.
  15. Send me a link to your tater app.
  16. It seems like what you think is the most he should get, 4 years, ends up being one more from someone- sometimes as a team option year with a buyout that sweetens the 4 year part of the deal.
  17. Could we see a day where staffs have ten 3-5 inning guys and three one inning guys?
  18. If Golden Showers is the thing, yes.
  19. The Boone & Cashman show has really helped the Sox for several years, now. Please don't fire them!
  20. We passed the Yanks and Rays. Let's keep this going!
  21. I think Kike, Arroyo & Fitzy are all we will see for this season. Plus we have a SS playing 2B.
  22. OPS/ERA of our top prospects, before today. 1, Casas .943 2. Mayer .941 3. Yorke .734 4. Duran 1.000 5. Bello 0.00 6. Groome 0.00 9. Walter 0.00 10. Jordan .683 11. Gonzalez 0.00 12. Winckowski 2.70 13. Downs .707 14. Seabold 2.08 15. Murphy 3.00
  23. If Arroyo, Fitzy and Downs & Co are not doing well by the deadline, we might think of trading Bogey for a CF/RF'er and put Kike at 2B and Story at SS.
  24. Many said, "Orlando who?" But, yes, we did not trade him for prospects or a good player with more than 2 months of team control.
