    We don't really know, if he can sustain 100+ IP of this type of long relief over 162 games.

    So, maybe morph the two roles and pitch him 1-2 IP more often than he's currently doing 2-4 IP?

    Back to the "long man" or steady closer? If we are, indeed, limiting Whitlock in innings, then I guess either could suit that priority, but maybe being a 1 inning closer would work best, with a few time going 1.1 to 2 IP.

    The only pitcher with a defined role who is doing well is Wacha. Go figure. Whiltock is doing great but has no defined role. I have hope with Houck & Eovaldi, but someone else needs to step up. Yes, I'm avoiding the awful offense. There are no words.

    It's actually to win enough to make the playoffs. It's a long season, so some balance is needed, within reason.

    Yes, but it seemed liked he chose better days, before, but I could be wrong. (Also, when you win, more is forgiven.) Why not at least rest Devers vs a lefty? I think he locks himself into specific dates ahead of time and is inflexible.

    YUP! It makes no sense. They rested Devers the other day vs a RH'd starter. I thought this team respected analytics.

    Yes, they don't get it, down here. Also, the Astros did for every hitter, not just when they had a man on second. One point that does resonate is that the Yanks cried up a storm over the Astros cheating them out of a possible ring, when they knew all along, they were cheaters, too- just maybe not that year.

    True, but nobody else plays 162 games in 6 month plus travel time galore and spring training and maybe playoffs.

    Along with .914 hitting Franchy, too (not a prospect.) The other prospects in that trade were mostly high ceiling-low floor single A guys.
