  1. It's truly amazing how many slots we have open, next winter- not just in the rotation. It's rare for teams to sync contracts like this, especially big spending teams. SP1 Eovaldi (our clear ace over the past 2-3 years) SP3 Wacha (pitching like an ace, now) SP5 Hill (not off to a good start) SS Bogey (a top 2 Sox hitter) DH JD (a top 3 or 4 Sox hitter) CF Kike (a top 2 defensive player and top 5 or 6 hitter) C1 Vaz C2 Plawecki RP Strahm (one of our best pen arms, so far) RP Robles (has been used as a closer for some of our games) JBJ's option is so prohibitive, but technically, he could be gone, too. Others like Travis Shaw might be addition by subtraction or gone before winter.
  2. "Scheduled days off" might not mean a plan for so and so to have May 12th off. I bet many managers try to give a guy a day off in the next few days and try to choose the best fit. We don't know a lot of what Cora knows, but on the surface, resting Bogey, yesterday did not make a lo of sense to some of us. Maybe he had some health issue or even told Cora he needed a rest. We don't ever know the full picture. I'm fine with resting guys. I think we might be going overboard some on the amount, but I trust these guys know what they are doing. That being said, it doesn't mean I have to agree with every singular moves management makes to still be happy with the totality of their choices and philosophies. Nothing is ever as black and white as many seem to think it is, except that Stork is a troll. That's clear as day to all of us.
  3. If he's on a season IP limit, then sooner may not be better, but if not, I agree. I'd like to eventaully see Houck as the closer and Whitlock in the rotation, but that might be as far away as 2023.
  4. I'm not against resting, but I think we sometimes choose the wrong tome to do it. All-in-all, I'm still a solid Cora supporter.
  5. Our hottest and only hitter, yes. Plus, with JD already out hurt and wasting a start by Whitlock.
  6. We don't really know, if he can sustain 100+ IP of this type of long relief over 162 games.
  7. So, maybe morph the two roles and pitch him 1-2 IP more often than he's currently doing 2-4 IP?
  8. Back to the "long man" or steady closer? If we are, indeed, limiting Whitlock in innings, then I guess either could suit that priority, but maybe being a 1 inning closer would work best, with a few time going 1.1 to 2 IP.
  9. The only pitcher with a defined role who is doing well is Wacha. Go figure. Whiltock is doing great but has no defined role. I have hope with Houck & Eovaldi, but someone else needs to step up. Yes, I'm avoiding the awful offense. There are no words.
  10. Earlier, I locked him in for a 1 for 4 day. He's busting out in a big way! Book it.
  11. Chaz just broke it up.
  12. Through 6, Verlander has a 1 hitter, and Martin Perez, yes Martin Perez has yet to let any runner on base!
  13. I'll go with the larger sample size on lefty-righty splits.
  14. A win vs the Jays also means a loss for them. Rest these guys vs the O's.
  15. It's actually to win enough to make the playoffs. It's a long season, so some balance is needed, within reason.
  16. It could get real interesting, if we're 10 down at the deadline.
  17. Yes, but it seemed liked he chose better days, before, but I could be wrong. (Also, when you win, more is forgiven.) Why not at least rest Devers vs a lefty? I think he locks himself into specific dates ahead of time and is inflexible.
  18. I'm rethinking my massive support of Cora.
  19. YUP! It makes no sense. They rested Devers the other day vs a RH'd starter. I thought this team respected analytics.
  20. Yes, they don't get it, down here. Also, the Astros did for every hitter, not just when they had a man on second. One point that does resonate is that the Yanks cried up a storm over the Astros cheating them out of a possible ring, when they knew all along, they were cheaters, too- just maybe not that year.
  21. Maybe a nice frosty beer... ...over his head!
  22. He's definitely repaid us for that dinger.
  23. Mark my words: SHOCKER Alert! Today, Shaw busts out with a 1 for 4 day!
  24. Indeed. It's amazing how many times someone gets hurt, though, just running to 1B or getting out of bed.
