  1. So, you are for giving away the whole farm, and I mean everybody who is anybody, and then pay so much money to extend him that we end up like the Angels with Trout and 2-3 helpers, but nothing more?
  2. It's not just about watching success stories. It might help a little to get a feel for marginal talents. We can also play Dalbec, Duran, Cordero and Refsnyder FT and see what they can do, off-handed.
  3. I have been totally against the JBJ trade from day one. I do not want him to start another game. If he's our 4th or 5th OF'er/late inning defensive OF'er, I'd be okay with that. I was just responding to a point someone made about JBJ'e past, and in particular over 5 years ago. His annual fWAR: 1.9 2015 5.6 2016 2.5 2017 3.4 2018 1.8 2019 1.6 2020 (short season- pro-rates to over 3.5) -1.6 2021 -0.8 2022 (pro-rate to -1.6) He was a clear overall plus, until 2020, sometimes not by a lot, but never under 1.6 for 6 straight years... starting in 2015 and ending in 2020.
  4. Everybody told me Bogey was the leader...
  5. Maybe he could be our bench coach, pitching coach or catching coach, first.
  6. I'd like to find out a bit more on who the keepers are. I'd like to see Bello, Wink, Crawford and even Seabold get 9-10 more starts- maybe even Mata, Murphy or Groome with a few. I'd love to see German. I'd like to give Fitzy a chance to shine. (not expecting him to earn keeper status) Wong & RHern? Why not? Casas, if he's healthy. Let Downs show what he has. Give promotions to A+, AA and AAA to guys like... to AAA Santos Wallace Hamilton Binelas Koss (Rule 5) Cottam to AA Drohan Uberstine Hickey Kavadas Lugo Northcut McDonough to A+ Gonzalez Angel Bastardo Encarnacion de la Rosa Jordan Mayer Bonaci Paulino
  7. I always loved VTek, and his knowledge of opposing batters was astounding. I have no idea how that translates into being a plus manager, but I'd like to give him a try. I'm also a big Cora supporter. Yes, even now. I would not think, now or this winter would be the time to change managers. Whether Vtek wants to manage or not is totally unknown to me. My guess is, if he wants to manage, the Sox would be his first choice. Sorry for the non answer answer.
  8. Is .737 relevant? Relevant enough, if you are GG caliber defender? (He was .737 from 2017 to 2020.)
  9. Isn't there already a Yankee thread for this type of post? Do we need two?
  10. Yes, I am very optimistic about watching all our prospects play in August, after the big fire sale.
  11. Yes, let's pay that and give up the entire farm to get him. Worse, let's trade away the entire farm, then watch Soto walk.
  12. Bello threw 55 pitches, tonight. 3 IP 3 H 1 ER 1 BB Valdez went 2 IP, 0H, 0ER, 1BB, 3K RHern making a case for a shot at next season's back-up catcher. (2-5 w 10th HR) Paulino 2-5 w 3B Not much else happening. 1K
  13. To the people who say Diekman was only $4M, think about Carpenter.
  14. Would you rather have used Diekman?
  15. He's healthier than Arroyo. His defense is better. Arroyo hits way better, when available. This is about utility roles, and you are right. Downs is not a full time starter, right now.
  16. The Padres really want OF help, and if Haniger will be healthy, I think this offer is more realistic than the previous one.
  17. I thought of that right after I clicked submit.

  19. Still, way underpaid in market prices, but that will soon change.
  20. I'm sure he thought he's be better than .497. I think he hoped it was also more than .544, his current OPS, but yes, that was a part of the idea. To me, the biggest parts of the deal were: 1. Improving RF/CF defense. 1A. Hoping a prospect turns out a net plus. 3. Hoping JBJ could hit near .675 to .700. 4. Thinking Renfroe was due for a regression, anyway and not liking his defense.
