  1. I was trying to answer for Boggsie. That being said, Duran is a minus in LF on defense. I think Verdugo is a min us in RF, or Cora/Bloom would have played him there, this year. I don't think there is room for Duran & Verdugo on next year's team. I think we trade one. We are not giving one away or non tendering either one. Just my opinion.
  2. Rocker goes 3rd
  3. Because he's not good enough to play RF, he sucks in LF???
  4. If we have a big sell off, he'll get 2 more months to build up his stock- trade or otherwise.
  5. ...and Wink, Crawford, and maybe German, too.
  6. I doubt he's traded, as well, but let's face it: both Duran and he are better suited for LF than anywhere else.
  7. Horrible. Just horrible.
  8. 9 PAs for Duran, Dalbec & Cordero: 9 Ks! Leaves a good feeling about the second half, doesn’t it?
  9. Verdugo is not going to be non tendered, but he may be traded. Next season’s team might be unrecognisable… not that this might be a bad thing.
  10. If we end up selling, Dalbec, Cordero and Duran, along with a Refsnyder, Downs, Wong and maybe others should get plenty of playing time to make a mark on our winter plans.
  11. Snake bite season. I still am holding out hope, but it is fading fast. I wonder how long Sale will be out, this time. Mr Snakebite, himself.
  12. Apparently, the Jays were interested in Beni, until they found out he not vaxxed,
  13. You guys have some major issues, this winter, too. Not as bad as the Sox, but still significant. Some "deadwood" lost as well. Judge Chapman Taillon Green Carpenter Castro Gallo Britton Marwin Option on Severino $15M w $2.75M buyout.
  14. I don't either, and didn't after 2020, either.
  15. The Pivetta issue is a tough nut to crack. This has happened with the Sox, before. He seems to snap out of it, but for how long? I'm still optimistic he can be a solid starter going forward, but hoping we can count on him to be a number 2 or even 3 going forward might be too much to ask. I'm not writing him off, but as of now, I view him as a good 4/5 to have on the team for the rest of 2022 and beyond. If he gives us more, great, but I'm just not expecting it. I know a 3 game sample size is tiny, and I've gotten down on posters for jumping on players over even larger bad sample sizes, but this is a recurring issue. His Sox Career in Cherry-Picked Divisions: 1.80 ERA in 2 starts in 2020 2.81 in 5 April starts in 2021 3.71 first 3 starts in May 5.70 in next 8 starts 3.69 next 7 starts 10.13 next 3 starts 3.60 last 5 games of 2021 (0ne in relief) 7.84 first 5 starts of 2022 1.95 next 11 starts 13.00 last 2 starts- not counting tonight. If you add all the stretched he was good, it's 33 starts. If you add the bad streaks, it's 19 starts, counting tonight. That's a decent 4th starter.
  16. For argument's sake, let's say we are full sellers at the deadline. I'm not saying we will be out of it. I'm not throwing in the towel. I'm just exploring the hypothetical: Trade: Bogey Eovaldi Wacha JD Kike Vaz Hill Strahm Plawecki Not counting who we get in return who might be ML ready, this could be the 26 man roster after the 9 free agent-so-be are traded and Diekman & JBJ are DFA'd. SP: Pivetta, Sale, Winckowski, Crawford, Bello RP: Houck, Whitlock, Schreiber, Sawamura, Brasier, Davis, Mata, German C: Wong, RHernandez 1B: Dalbec (Casas?) 2B: Story SS: Downs, Arroyo 3B: Devers LF: Verdugo CF: Duran RF: Refsnyder DH: Cordero 14 others on the 40 (not counting trade additions): P: Seabold, Danish, Ort, Groome, DHern, Ort, Valdez (Maybe add German & Murphy) OF: Stewart, Sanchez, Fitzy, J Davis (Maybe Grullon or Cottam)
  17. We can, but we'd have nothing else on the team. Those two might take up 25-30% of the whole player budget for 10 years. We'd be worse than the Angels.
  18. He's got speed and plus defense, too. How about SLG%? 200+ ABs: .654 Kavadas .583 Rafaela .552 Northcut .515 Mayer .482 M Lugo .472 Downs .468 Jordan .468 Stewart .466 R Hernandez .463 Castellanos .443 Binelas .438 Fitzy .438 Koss .435 Paulino 100-199 ABs .535 Sierra .531 Duran .530 J Davis .524 Refsnyder .515 Sikes .509 K Diaz .497 Casas .489 Hickey OPS 1.123 Kavadas .937 Rafaela .901 Mayer .836 Granberg .828 Jordan .812 Downs .811 Stewart .790 M Lugo .828 Northcut
  19. Shoulda traded him, while his stock was high.
  20. Yes. I am not for trading the moon for Soto. I am for giving the moon contract to Devers. (No prospects lost.)
  21. I asked that, already. It's "moot."
  22. 200+ ABs .466 Kavadas .402 Granberg .389 Mayer .384 Bonaci .377 Sanchez .364 Jordan .354 Rafaela .354 Sogard .342 Stewart .339 Downs .336 Wong .332 Binelas .328 Paulino .324 McDonough .320 Lugo .320 Koss 100-199 ABs .437 Sierra .429 Refsnyder .426 Asigen .420 Hickey .419 A Lugo .410 Alcantara .402 Yuten
  23. So, you are for giving away the whole farm, and I mean everybody who is anybody, and then pay so much money to extend him that we end up like the Angels with Trout and 2-3 helpers, but nothing more?
  24. It's not just about watching success stories. It might help a little to get a feel for marginal talents. We can also play Dalbec, Duran, Cordero and Refsnyder FT and see what they can do, off-handed.
  25. I have been totally against the JBJ trade from day one. I do not want him to start another game. If he's our 4th or 5th OF'er/late inning defensive OF'er, I'd be okay with that. I was just responding to a point someone made about JBJ'e past, and in particular over 5 years ago. His annual fWAR: 1.9 2015 5.6 2016 2.5 2017 3.4 2018 1.8 2019 1.6 2020 (short season- pro-rates to over 3.5) -1.6 2021 -0.8 2022 (pro-rate to -1.6) He was a clear overall plus, until 2020, sometimes not by a lot, but never under 1.6 for 6 straight years... starting in 2015 and ending in 2020.
