  1. Not saying it's a false report, but it is The Globe. Maybe Bogey told Bloom he'd come back before accepting an offer, but did not. That could be surprising, I guess. I'm not happy, either. I'm frustrated that this is fast becoming a pattern. I'm not surprised, and probably few are. Maybe I confused anger and frustration with surprise. I'm glad we signed 3 key players and am trying to stay hopeful we add 2 more good ones- maybe 3.
  2. I don't disagree, but we all pretty much knew he was a goner or at best 50-50.
  3. Why are we acting surprised Bogey bolted?
  4. Never count out Bobby Dee. He's likely our platoon DH and back up to a rookie 1Bman. If he could play SS or RF, he'd be a FT'er.
  5. Maybe they get Andrus.
  6. Looks like Correa to SFG and Swanson to the Cubs. Andrus it is, unless we move Kike or Story to SS.
  7. You forgot Bobby Dee!
  8. The one name mentioned as being offered in trade? You guessed it- RH'd Bobby D.
  9. 2023: The Year of the Lefty
  10. Trade for Lopez, Berti and maybe even A Garcia or Cooper.
  11. $150 K x 8? How do they get to pay less than min wage?
  12. Very encouraging news.
  13. Even our catcher bats lefty! Dugo will be traded.
  14. But, wouldn't be that "someone else paying for their late 30's" had we retained Betts and Bogey?
  15. Of course, my opinion could b e wrong. I think they did not want Lester at even what their final offer was. I certainly could be wrong.
  16. They did come close, but in my unsupported-by-evidence opinion, I think the intentionally bid under what the Cubs offered and were just trying to save face with the fans. (That did not work- nor did the "heavy" talks with Bogey at the last minute.)
  17. It does look like Conforto has high upside, and the one year deal mitigates the risk, somewhat.
  18. I felt the same with Lester. They knew all along they would never come close to the market price on an offer, and just went through the motions to appear they cared. (Nobody bought their lame attempts, then or now.)
  19. No, I asked, would you sign the Price after the 2019 season- not knowing about the opt out- based on his numbers and clear decline in skills and durability?
  20. He's not that far from Gallo. He probably has more offensive upside- Gallo more proven D. You chose: Nimmo (Kike at SS and Dugo in RF) Gallo & Andrus Conforto and Andrus Swanson with Dugo in RF It may, very well, come down to these choices, barring a trade.
  21. I said you "almost" have me convinced.
  22. $16M, in today's market is over $20M a year- maybe $25M. You'd sign the 2020 Price to $20M x 4 years, now? If you answer yes, please stop bashing Bloom. You are worse.
  23. No, because I know beforehand about age regression, especially in pitchers already showing skill decline and massive IP decline. Not at $32M. Not at $16M, even at today's inflated prices.
  24. Yes on this. No on 180/8. I'd rather have Conforto and Andrus than Nimmo and having to play Arroyo at 2B and Story at SS, or Kike at SS and Dugo in RF.
