  1. I think the talk was $80M after Martin signed.
  2. Quick, name the last off season day as exciting as this for the Sox...
  3. Signing so fast, I can't keep up. 2. Correa 4. Bogey 5. Swanson 6. Rodon 9. Nimmo 11. Senga 13. Bassitt 15. Benintendi 17. Manaea 21. Syndergaard 23. Eovaldi 24. T Rogers 25. JD Martinez 26. Rucinski Andrus, Belt, Carpenter, Cueto, A Diaz, Fujinami, Fulmer, Gallo, Greinke, Kiermaier Kimbrel, Longoria, Lugo, Mancini, Moore, Peterson, G Sanchez, Smyly
  4. Remaining Top Free Agents (MLBTR rankings) 2. Correa 4. Bogey 5. Swanson 6. Rodon 9. Nimmo 11. Senga 13. Bassitt 14. Taillon 15. Benintendi 17. Manaea 21. Syndergaard 23. Eovaldi 24. Rucinski Others: Andrus, Belt, Carpenter, Cueto, A Diaz, Fujinami, Fulmer, Gallo, Greinke, Kiermaier, Kimbrel, Longoria, Lugo, Mancini, Moore, Peterson, G Sanchez, Smyly
  5. Kinda like Dwight Evans: 162 gm avg 20-30 .269 22 74 (.826 OPS/ 123 OPS+) 31-38 .275 25 92 (.859 OPS/ 132 OPS+) Better yet, 32-37: .283 27 102 (.886/ 139 OPS+)
  6. We will almost certainly be adding a SS, and might still be looking to add a real RF'er. (Trade Dugo or DH him?) I think we add a SP, too. Assuming no more additions: 1. Yoshida LF 2. Devers 3B 3. Story SS 4. Dugo RF 5. Kike CF 6. Casas 1B 7. Arroyo/ E Valdez 2B 8. Hosmer/Dalbec DH 9. McGuire/Wong C SP: Sale, Whitlock, Bello, Paxton, Pivetta (Crawford, Winckowski, Mata) RP: Jansen, Martin, Houck, Schreiber, Barnes, Joely, Crawford, Winckowski, Brasier/Taylor (Mata, Kelly, German, Walter, Murphy)
  7. I think we are done adding pen arms. FYI Career Pen Splits OPS Against ® Jansen .502 v R/.587 v L ® Martin .704 v R/ .664 v L ® Houck .528 v R/ .676 v L ® Barnes .691 v R/.696 v L ® Schreiber .625 v R/.748 v L (but .676 in 2022) (L) Joely Rod. .732 v R/ .691 v L (L) Taylor .801 v R/ .478 v L
  8. And, he has to remain on the active 26 man roster all season long- something the Nats can afford to do. We were never going to add Song to our 40, this year, but I wish we had added Ward and Politi.
  9. I think the Judge, Turner and deGrom signings mean more.
  10. Maybe it is no coincidence they met with Bogey, did not sign him, and went large on Yoshida. Maybe we go, Nate, Gallo or Conforto and Andrus. Call it a day.
  11. True, but it's not hindsight that some of us thought Ward and Politi showed more promise than Ort, DHern and Brasier. Song surprised me.
  12. Yoshida had an OBP over .400 in 6 straight seasons. He's walked more than K'd in 4 straight seasons and came close to walking twice as much as K'ing, this season (15.7 BB rate to 8.1 K rate.) Gotta like his approach.
  13. BTV accepts: Dugo, Walter, Yorke & Jordan for Lopez, Berti & Garcia (salary dump) If we don't sign Bogey, Kike plays SS in 2023. Yoshida LF, Berti CF, Garcia RF/DH. If we bring back Bogey (or Swanson/Andrus) we have Yoshida LF, Kike CF, Berti RF and Garcia at DH.
  14. Sure does, and the talk of going after Bogey seems encouraging.
  15. I'd have kept all 3 pitchers and said my good byes to Brasier, Ort & DHern. I'm glad we still have Wallace & Wikelman.
  16. It's $23.5 not 26, and where do you get this "free-falling" stuff from? Jansen's OPS against was an awesome .615, this year, and his last 2 years have been better than 2019-2020 combined. Martin's .622 OPS Against, this year is way better than his career up to 2022 (over .700). It was .726 in 2021. These numbers show they are not in decline. Others might show some slight decline. Nothing comes close to "free falling."
  17. Damn straight, and to me OBP is more valuable than SLG, so even nicer than it looks.
  18. I probably would. I've always liked Urquidy, but he's not really an answer for our need for a top of rotation SP'er. BTV accepted this one: Rafaela, Dugo, Dalbec, Walter & Lugo for Lopez, Berti, A Garcia (salary dump) and Cooper We get a solid SP'er, DH/ RF'er, a Kike-type player in Berti who can also lead-off and a swap of change of environments of Bobby D for Cooper. They get salary relief, a nice promising SP'er and OF'er and a solid LF'er. Lugo and Dalbec have some promise. It all depends on how much they want to cut salary. If you take A Garcia away, we'd probably have to give Mayer not Rafaela.
  19. It's natural to want to compare him to Suzuki, and in some ways it makes sense, but they are two different players. Lot's of potential, here. He's only 29. (Turns 30 in July) He might turn out better than Nimmo. No lost comp pick. It's hard to have an opinion on this move. It's bold. 5 years is not too long. $18M AAV is not too large. My first impression is a good one. Low Ks High BBs High and consistent BA .321 '18 .323 '19 .351 '20 .339 '21 .336 '22 The power is not great, but he did have 29 HRs one year and 75 XBHs another year. Gotta take someone's word on his defense.
  20. Maybe they trade Dugo or he can DH/4th OF'er.
  21. As was Wallace by some. I don't think anyone expected 3 Sox players selected. I meant what I said. What I said has merit.
  22. I thought Rule 5 players had to be on the 26 man roster a certain amount of time, of they are returned- no excuses, even 60 day IL.
  23. The Jansen signing was not talked about, either. Bloom going stealth.
  24. Updated (in tax dollars): 25.6 Sale 23.2 Story 18.0 Yoshida 16.0 Jansen 10.0 Kike 9.4 Barnes 8.8 Martin 4.7 Whitlock 4.0 Paxton 2.0 J Rodriguez 1.2 Refsnyder Arb Estimates 16.5 Devers 5.5 Verdugo 5.3 Pivetta 3.0 Arroyo 2.5 Brasier 2.1 McGuire 1.0 Taylor 7.7 0-3 yr players 1.7 0-3 yr bonus pool 2.3 minor league players 16.5 player benefits 192.6 Total (based on cots) 40.3 under the tax line Enough for maybe 2-3 from this list... 26-30 Bogey or 9-11 Andrus 14-17 Nate 10-13 Kluber 9-11 Conforto or Gallo
  25. If he's not on their active roster for a certain time, he'll be returned.
