  1. Exactly what I predicted all along!
  2. But, what about all the shift- aided stuff you told us all about? No metric sheet needed for that?
  3. I don't either, but we both know it will happen. Sidenote: had Lester sucked after that fiasco, there would be no ongoing discussions about that "mistake," except maybe some posters saying maybe letting Bogey go might be a good thing, like it was with Lester, Jake and others.
  4. I'm not as fixated on fault and blame as some, but it does often serve a purpose, when constructive and measures are taken to avoid repeating obvious mistakes by the parties directly involved. I'm not sure about what purpose fans assigning blame has, except to satisfy some internal need some of us have. This is NOT the same as thinking nobody is to blame, as you have accused me of believing. My answer: Neither side found a meeting point. Of course, I wish Bloom, JH & Co. had offered Bogey a fair offer that would have turned out to be less than what this exploding market has created, and the $168M/6 deal you suggested seems about as high as I'd have gone. I'm not sure Bogey/BorA$$ would have accepted that or not, so not knowing the answer to that question makes it hard for me to blame any side more than the other. I also think we can't really say any mistake was made or not, until we see what Bogey produces over the next 6, 7, 8 or 11 years. Assigning blame or fault, now, is premature and "overanalyzing," IMO.
  5. So much overanalyzing going on, here. Keep it simple: we never offered what Bogey wanted at any time.
  6. My comment was about "ten fold" and not that prices and maybe offers have not gone up or not. That's why I wrote "10 fold?"
  7. I'm at about a 7. I can't wait to watch Bello & Casas, and hope it ends up being fun. I can't wait to watch McGuire "expose himself" as the catcher of our future and to show fans just how much catcher intangibles matter. I can't wait to see what SS we acquire this winter. I can't wait to to see if Arroyo can play 80+ games. I can't wait to see how well Devers plays after inking a massive extension. I can't wait to see Red wiggle out of his Yoshida doubt comments. I can't wait to see Story and Kike have healthy and productive seasons. I can't wait to see Turner make us all say, "JD Schwarber who?" I can't wait to see Dugo traded for a real RF'er. I can't wait to see Whitlock prove himself to be a solid #2 SP'er. I can't wait to see Kluber give us 160+ solid IP. I can't wait to see our pen be a solid plus for the first time in years. I can't wait to see Kelly and or German shine. I can't wait to see 4-5 of our 10 upcoming prospects win a few meaningful roles by season's end. I can't wait to see how many times Cora gets bashed in game threads.
  8. "10 fold?" Sorry, in advance, for "overanalyzing."
  9. Even if you take the 3 away, there is still 13, which is a third of the 40 man roster and half of the 26. Can anyone remember a time when this number was so high? Also, props to DD for 7 of those 13 being his additions. (8 of the full 16)
  10. "Hopefuls"
  11. When is the last time the Sox farm had so many players who are ML Ready or recent grads? Recent Grads: Duran 7/22 Crawford 8/22 Winck 9/22 Bello 10/22 Wong 12/22 Ort 12/22 MLB Experience Already 3. Casas 22. Seabold 23. German 25. Kelly MLB Ready in 2023 4. Rafaela 6. Mata 8. Walter 13. Murphy 17. E Valdez 26. R Hern I count 16.
  12. While I do think not protecting TWard was a mistake, getting Whitlock was one of the best Rule 5 picks in history.
  13. He really set up the GM who set up the GM who set up the GM who...
  14. Probably happy to be recognized, even if by being boo'd. Now, if the family with you and it would not be too cool, especially if explicatives are used.
  15. I'd go with... 1. C (Yorke need to rebound.) 2. A (I know Mayer was a no-brainer, but 3 GMs passed on him.) 3. B (Hard to grade. The draft looks deep.) 4. A+ (Whitlock may end up in the top 5 best Rule 5 picks in MLB history.) 5. B (Super high on Bleis.) 6. C- (Most trades involved giving up marginal players or taking back a vet with the prospects.) Overall: B, but almost all on speculation.
  16. The guy had a great 84 year plan! These damn crybaby fans are so impatient!
  17. On Farm Building: what grades would you give Bloom in the following areas? 1. 2020 Draft (shortened): 17. Yorke, 89. Jordan, 118. Wu-Yelland, 148 Drohan 2. 2021 Draft: 4. Mayer, 40. Fabian (DNS), 75. McDonough, 105. ERC, 136. Hickey, 166. McElveny (Kavadas, Uberstine, Guerrero, Webb) 3. 2022 Draft: 24. Romero, 41. Coffey, 79. Anthony (Meidroth, Brannon) 4. Rule 5/MiLFA: Added Whitlock, Kelly, Ort, T Reed and maybe lost TWard, Politi & Song 5. IFA: Bleis, Paez, de Leon, Encarnacion, Ravelo, Mejias, J Garcia, Lira, Chacon, Liu 6. Trades: JWinckowski, CWong, EValdez, WAbreu, FGerman, DHamilton, RHernandez, CKoss, ABinelas, MFerguson, CRosier, L de la Rosa + others
  18. That is too high, yes.
  19. Why are you so sure that is who JH will sell to?
  20. No. I think an owner might lower his offer, if a team has $500M in deadwood salary on the books going forward vs none.
  21. Not sure, and like I said, maybe my impression of what owners do before selling is not accurate. I might be thinking of the Dodger sale about 10 years ago. Didn't they avoid big deals before the sale, and fans got pissed?
  22. Yes, we know your position, and having a large legion of fans thinking the same way, I'm sure enforces your feeling of being right. I've never doubted the majority of fans are not liking any notion of even a 3 year plan- let alone 5. "Outlived his usefulness" is your position. Until I know who the new owner might be, I'm not going just blindly say he should sell the team. You are free to want what you want, but I'll say it again, be careful what you wish for.
  23. I don't think it would ever prevent an owner from buying, unless there were hundreds of millions of deadwood salaries. It may lower the price, some. I just seem to recall owners about to sell getting stingy with spending. Maybe just a trend- not a locked in rule.
  24. I don't recall anyone wishing for Bloom, maybe Mr. Strawman. I'd be fine with Henry selling, but I'd like to know the buyer before I wish for it to happen. I seriously doubt we have any rings without Henry. Maybe 1- possibly two. I'm not convinced he is the problem, or that this is just a long term cycle or 5 year plan that requires patience- something you and most Sox fans don't have.
  25. Ask why other owners skimped before selling. Maybe, it's easier to sell a team with less long term commitments. New owners may want to put a stamp on the team- their own. I don't know. Like I said, I might be wrong about the history of deals made before team's being sold.
