  2. I agree, but he has some things to work on. Big thanks to DD for signing him as an IFA (2017). Big thanks to the system under DD & Ben for helping him develop into our best looking young pitcher since Lester.
  3. Why not? Andrus +10.4 UZR/150 .552 OPS Red Sox SS -3.7 UZR/150 .630 OPS
  4. 17, right? Outhit 8-4. Outerred 2-1.
  5. If I had told anyone our top 2 starters would have ERAs under 3.28, and their names were Paxton and Bello, who would have believed it?
  6. I was thinking, since Cora said Pivetta is needed as a long man in the pen, he might pitch the 8th.
  7. Bello looked really sharp, tonight. He's got his ERA down to 3.27. He's brought his ERA down, every game but one since his opening day implosion. Take away that first game, and Bello has done this in his 11 starts: 2.70 ERA 63.1 IP 55 Hits 20 BB 57 Ks
  8. I would not bench Casas anymore than scheduled days off, and since Turner can play 1B while Yoshida DH's, I can't see using Dalbec at 1B. Plus he sucks on D at 1B. Casas has been coming along since the first week of the season. .745 OPS since April 9th (.345 OBP) .789 OPS since April 24th (.352 OBP) .810 OPS since May 23rd (.366 OBP) .930 OPS since June 16th (.370 OBP) He's hitting LHPs about the same as RHP's, so I don't see a platoon called for. If Dalbec is going to play SS, God bless our team.
  9. Wild Card Race BAL +5 NYY and HOU ties for #2-3 slots -0.5 LAA -0.5 TOR -2.5 BOS -4.0 SEA -4.5 CLE Our schedule up to the trade deadline August 1st: 3 @CWS OFF 3 MIA 3 ATOR OFF 3 TEX 3 OAK All Star Break (4 Days) 3 @CHC 3 @OAK OFF 3 NYM OFF 2 ATL OFF 3 @SFG 3@SEA With so many days off, we might be able to get by with 4 dependable SP'ers until the deadline, but I sure hope Houck returns soon.
  10. Best Records vs .500+ Teams 29-16 TBR 21-15 ATL 22-16 SFG 23-19 BAL 28-24 BOS 19-18 TEX 20-19 AZ These are the only teams with winning records on this split. And there I was thinking playing less good teams, this year, was helpful
  11. If we pay his whole salary, some team might think he's a better option than what they have- based on hopes that his first 2+ months were just a bad stretch. I doubt we get a McGuire in return, but a single A prospect with a half a chance would be worth it for us. It's slightly better than a plain DFA.
  12. We could pay his full salary, and I doubt anyone would take him.
  13. Hey! The CWS took Diekman and his salary and gave us McGuire on top of that! Maybe...

  16. Their "mediocre" was better than ours.
  17. If we keep winning 6 out of 8, we will make the playoffs and maybe even win the division. That is our "current path," if you choose 8 games.
  18. Yes, we are close to a team missing 3 of it's top 5 starters. We are missing 2 of our top 7, and 2 others were demoted to the pen. I do think we can pass the Astros, but with 4 of our 7 on the IL or in the pen, it won't be easy.
  19. Agreed. We already took Whitlock and Houck, and now Crawford.
  20. We may need Walter or Murphy to come through for us, until Houck comes back. I'm not sure, if they are considering moving Pivetta back to the rotation. It could work.
  21. The Astros lost Verlander to free agency over the winter and then McCullers for the whole season. Luis Gracia may miss the whole season (60 day IL) and Jose Urquidy in on the 15 day IL and has already missed 9 of 15 starts. Here are their SP'er numbers: 2.27 Framber Valdez 15 GS 3.25 Christian Javier 15 GS 3.78 Hunter Brown 14 3.42 JP France 8 4.37 B Bielak 8 and 4.66 R Blanco 3
  22. Two surprises from Murphy then Walter, both who were struggling in the minors, this year.
  23. I thought I was responding to MVPs post about Rosier being promoted to AAA. Somehow, the threads got switched on me. LOL
  24. ...and then the false hopes they were coming back.
