  1. Certainly BTV should not be used as a tool to judge GMs, but I was rather shocked by the few amount of high value players on their roster. (Yes, value is measured by performance projection minus salary, and DD pays his players well.) Only 3 players over $28M (C Sanchez, Painter & A Miller, 2 are prospects) Only 6 players between 9 and 28. Their 25th man is valued at 3.2, while the Sox is 8.4. The Phillies have 10 players in the minus zone, but their top 3 have high performance value: 176 T Turner (-219 salary) 43 Wheeler (-84) 99 Schwarber (-135) Also, #6 Nola has 108 value -123 salary.
  2. I'm pretty pumped up about our AA and A+ rotations, as well: AA: Bennet, Holobetz, Rivera, Wehunt, Rogers/Dean A+: Valera, Witherspoon, Phillips, Eyanson, Tygart/Neely (Ingrassia/Ehrlicher/Futrell)
  3. We kinda had a lull in IFA signings for a while... 2017: Bello & Rafaela (DD the "Farm Decimator" LOL) 2018: nada 2019: Monegro 2021: nada (Bleis 2022: Jh Garcia (Masa) 2023: Arias (Cespedes) 2024: J Gonzales & Azocar(Brito, D Reyes) 2025: Soto, Rivas, Delzine, Ramos
  4. Mind boggling. 11 teams have lower budgets that LA's tax, and somehow JH not spending more is the main issue.
  5. Merloni predicts Abreu is going to bust out and become one of MLBs best all around players. (He's going to play vs LHPs, too.)
  6. It's silly. It's like monopoly money. It's like Bregman's contract plus $20M a year and a 4th year! I'm glad LA is in the NL.
  7. We've done okay for two winters in a row. Don't jinx it! LOL! We have a big task at hand. I think we are pretty close to having a very nice off season. Who we get for 3B (or 2B) and how much offense he brings to the table will be the big tell. We could use another pen arm, but I don't really see a great need other than Big BAT & 3B/2B, which could be one guy. Not many teams look one player away from top 3-4 status. That's not done by neglect and apathy. Please don't take that as a pat on JH's back, cause I'd like to kick his backside, but can you try to be optimistic about something? Just try it. Just once.
  8. The Mets really wanted Tucker. I doubt the go for Bichette. If the Yanks lose out on Bellinger, maybe they trade Chisolm and sign Bichette.
  9. $240M x 4 with 2 opts out. I know you love opt outs.
  10. Yes, and Sale had 3 years of control. DD did have the prospects to trade- just not mostly his. The ones of his he kept worked out well.
  11. It's like paying a FA Gray $20M/1. They paid more for Buehler. SHOCK!
  12. Sorry, I misread your post. You think the Sox will likely pay him $10M to walk rather than $30M to play? I know a lot depends on how well he does, and he's like 84 years old, but still...
  13. I did not know you were adding 2026 and 2027. Yes, $10M +$30M = $40M. If they buy out, it's $10M + $10M=$20M $40M-$20M is still the $20M difference, not $40M difference.
  14. Huh? They may $30M or $10M not $40M.
  15. King fills a need for the Sox, too. 4 years of Abreu helps the Astros, a lot. They really want an OF'er, too, and Abreu plays great D and has power. Janek gives us some catcher hope for the future. This might be one of my better suggestions.
  16. Well, they are paying $21M for Gray, now. It's actually a paycut.
  17. But, they pay $10M to not play, so the difference is just $20M.
  18. BTV Accepts: Abreu for Paredes, King and Janek Would you? 1. L Anthony RF 2. R Contreras 1B 3. L Duran LF 4. R Paredes 3B 5. R Story SS 6. L Yoshida DH/ R Romy DH or 2B 7. R Narvaez C 8. L Mayer 2B/ R Campbell DH 9. R Rafaela CF
  19. Yes, I did not scroll down far enough. My bad. I apologize. Gray to waive his right to block a trade, contract restructured to guarantee Gray a $31M salary in 2026 and a $10M buyout on a $30M mutual option for 2027 Cardinals to pay Red Sox $20M
  20. Most teams invariably get outbid and that's not an excuse. I'm not defending JH's miser tendencies.
  21. $1.4M Garielvin Silverio OF LHB power + contact skills $1.2M Dawvris Brito SS $800K Joskairo Ramirez OF $650M Esterlin Casanova IF $500K Claudio Pereira 6-5 lanky RHP from Brazil N/A Isaac Velasquez: is a left-handed hitter who has an innate ability to get the bat to the ball and often sprays line drives from gap to gap. He’s made enormous strides over the past year or so, having significantly improved his bat speed to give him what is now a plus hit tool. Competition at shortstop might force him to the other side of the second-base bag, but he shows plenty of athleticism and should stick up the middle. -MLB.com N/A Freyerson Vasquez: carrying tool is his ability to track down the ball defensively in center field. He’s got a quick first step and shows genuine aptitude for the position, earning positive marks from scouts for his dedication to routes and improving his arm strength. He’s even popped a few triple-digit exit velocities from the left-handed batter’s box, giving him an exciting blend of tools to work with as he enters the system. -MLB.com
  22. Yes, kinda, but he'd lose the $5M buyout. I think he'll take the $30M/1 or $5M buyout instead. If the Sox exercise his option, he can opt for free agency and void the buyout.
  23. BTV has his value at $16M. ($28M value-$12M contract) BTV has Crawford worth $21.7M ($35M-$13M pay). I'm almost certain the Cubs say not to that 1 on 1 offer. Even adding Cespedes (6.8) Bleis (3.5) Castro 1.8 or DHam (1.1) would still make it a swift "NO!" I think Crawford (21.7) + Harrison (6.6) might get a yes, but 3 years of Crawford and 4 years of Harrison for 1 year of Hoerner makes me hesitate. I think I'd do it and hope we can extend Hoerner. (I feel better about chances at extending, lately.) I'd prefer Crawford + Sandlin (5.5) and maybe they want a non 40 man pitcher instead- like... 10.8 Phillips 9.0 Oviedo (2 yrs) 6.0 Bennett or Valera (I'd say no to Valera) 5.5 Eyanson would be a good add. 5.4 Sandoval saves us a bunch of cash 2.9 Drohan likely does not move the needle enough.
