  1. That's why he's cheaper and MORE likely.
  2. BTV has his value at $35M for 2 yrs, so $17.5M/yr. Duran $82.5M/3 or $27.5M/yr Bello $75.5M/4 or $19M/yr Abreu $56.4/4 or $14M/yr Rafaela $94.2/7 or $13.5M/yr
  3. We passed last year's budget and AAV. Spotrac moved us up to 6th, but we are still $16M from NYY, who might add $30M for bellinger. Tax Payroll: $276M 2026 (6th) $249M 2025 (7th) $226M 2024 (12th) $226M 2023 (12th) $236M 2022 (5th) $208M 2021 (6th) We are $50M over 2024.
  4. That seems about right. With some, it's more like 2 years too long. That's what gets me when people say, but just pay the guy $2-3M more. It's $2-3M more x 5, 6 or 7, and the starting point was an overpay to begin with!
  5. Nobody can say Brez has sat on his hands, even if we have lacked mega signings. Big trades. Big extensions. Major overhaul to the pitching roster and systems. Whole roster nearly overhauled in less than 2.5 years. He's no Bloom... his deadline inactions notwithstanding.
  6. Just don't pat the back of the 12th round pick HOBO.
  7. I've also seen Paredes play live and on TV a lot. He just looks like a real good hitter. He bats RH'd. He has decent splits. He's good on D but not great. We need a 3Bman.
  8. HOU is hard to judge. They have their own views on pitchers and how they can tweek them into more success. They might love Bello- they might not. They might like Crawford or someone else more. They really need OF help. If they viewed Campbell as a LF'er, they might say yes to him. That being said, I think both say yes. Most likely to say no? HOU. The Sox were apparently shopping Bello. I like Bello much more as our #4 than our #3. I keep thinking a Duran + Crawford package should get us something very special. According to BTV, that gets us KMarte, but I know AZ says no to that, but it give you an idea of how they view those two.
  9. We also had Sandoval start no games and traded away Priester and Newcomb mid season.
  10. He's done a few pivots over time, and the Lester loss stung almost as much as Betts. The thing about Betts is we are still waiting for his replacement. At least they tried with Price.
  11. He makes more because he's year 2 of 3. Maybe he's worth more in value per year?
  12. I have Duran valued higher than Paredes. I really like Paredes and thinks he improves greatly in 2026. He turns 27 in FEB. He plays 3B or 2B and even 1B. Duran turns 30 in SEPT and might be our FT DH in 2026. He dropped off a little bit, last year but has been real good over the last 3 seasons. Right now, he might be our best player on offense. At worst he's second or third to Anthony & Contreras. I'm not for handing him away. The Cincy fans on BTV berated me for suggesting he's worth as much as Lodolo. AZ fans slammed me for suggesting Duran plus others for KMarte.
  13. I counted Masa & Story as "spending more."
  14. There was talk, early on on signing a FA pitcher and trading for position players, and that looked backwards to me. It turns out we traded for an everyday player (Contreras) and maybe we trade for a 3B/2Bman. We traded for Gray and Oviedo and signed Ranger. It's a pretty shocking turnover on the pitching front from just 2025, and to think Brez added a lot of "his own" pitcher additions before 2025 (and during.) Added: Sonny Gray & Ranger Suarez Johan Oviedo & Jake Bennett Ryan Watson & Isaiah Jackson During 2025: Hicks & Harrison/ Matz, May & Holobetz Lost: Gio & Buehler/ Wilson, Matz & Wink Fitts & Dobbins Bernardino & Murphy Guerrero & Hoppe Clarke & Perales Fajardo & Travieso Paez & Aita
  15. The money might have just about evened out with the deferrals. I like this deal. I'd have been fine had we paid Bregman $165M/5 or even $175M/5, but I know the cost would reduce future signings- so will Ranger's.
  16. LOL. With inflation factored in, not even half.
  17. It's hard to know how other GMs value Campbell. His contract can look like a big risk or a big opportunity. BTV accepts just KC for 1 year of Hoerner. I'd probably do that. Maybe add Mullins. I might give Crawford (22 value) for Hoerner (16). Now that we have Ranger, I'd feel safer trading a little SP depth. BTV accepts Crawford, Campbell & Bennet for Matt Shaw.
  18. Some BTV numbers: 69 KMarte (5 yrs) 44 Matt Shaw (5 yrs) 32 Donovan (2 yrs) 28 Stott (2 yrs) 22 Viento or B Baty (both 4 yrs) 20 Chisholm (1 yr) 19 McLain (2 yrs) 16 Hoerner (2 yrs) 12 Paredes (2 yrs) 7 Bohm (1 yr) 2 G Torres (1 yr) -4 C Seager (6 yrs) Best player: KMarte Best value: Paredes Most Likely: Vientos (maybe Hoerner)
  19. He's 30, so it's not all that bad. Maybe this quiets those who say no more long deals given.
  20. The fWAR Pitching Leaders from 2024 to 2025: 180+ IP (133 Pitchers) 4. Crochet 10.4 13. R Suarez 7.5 14. S Gray 7.4 57. Bello 3.9 (65. Houck 3.5) 105. Crawford 1.8 ERA- 10. Crochet 72 22. Suarez 79 54. Bello 93 73. Gray 100 FIP 6. Crochet 2.80 13. Gray 3.36 15. Suarez 3.29 72. Bello 4.19
  21. Okay. I now await the breakdown of our top 3 pitchers vs NYY's and TOR's...
