  1. How do the odds improve, if we go 7-0 v TEX(3), TOR(3) & HOU(1)? Could we then go 14-8 in the other 22 and have a chance? (21-8 overall)
  2. As much grief as Yoshida has taken, recently, his yearly numbers do show some impressive rankings on the team: Only Turner has more PAs and a higher OBP: .358 Tuner .349 Yoshida .344 Devers .342 Verdugo (Casas is at .363 but has fewer PAs) Only Devers and Turner have more PAs and a higher SLG%: .509 Devers .490 Turner .456 Yoshida .441 Verdugo (Duvall.593, Casas .484 and Duran .482 have higher SLG but fewer PAs.) Weird how stats can be used or presented.
  3. 4:10 start time. Framber Valdez vs Kutter Crawford It's most likely "now or never" for our Sox. I never thought I'd say these words, but Crawford has been our ace for the last month or so. One game at a time, guys! Go SOX!
  4. Realistically, we are going to need a miracle, starting tomorrow. There is nothing to base any belief that it will start, tomorrow, but this team has brought us to extreme ups and downs, over and over, so maybe we have one last gasp in us. One game at a time.
  5. I see the foundation has improved. I see less one year deal expiring. I see more young players being called up and doing well. I see more coming up this and next year and some really promising ones 2-3 years away. I see way fewer holes to fill in 2024 than we've had since 2018 or 2019. I see a chance our budget may expand in the next year or two, but that may just be wishful thinking. It may all come up short. It may all be a mirage, and the sucking will continue or even get worse. I, for one, am optimistic about our future, and to me, we may be 2 key additions away from being a significant contender in 2024. It doesn't seem like you and many other agree, but that's life.
  6. Talkin owners, but yeah. Half have sucked. Half have given us brief hopes, only to be dashed.
  7. It's hard to fathom we have a higher BA with RISP than when not.
  8. Can nobody get a big hit with men on base?
  9. I did say "maybe," but I won't argue with anyone who thinks Dugo is better. Dugo has better numbers, this year. Duvall has a GG, but it's hard to compare Duval with Dugo, since they have played different OF positions over much of their careers. Dugo is having a better defensive season. Career? It's pretty close: Here are some numbers 2019>>>: RF DRS & UZR/150 +11 Dugo in 1998 innings 3.3 UZR/150 +6 Duvall in 863 innings (actually a better DRS/inning) 3.1 Looks kinda even. CF -1 Duvall in 998 innings 2.0 -3 Dugo in 821 innings -2.4 Pretty close LF +21 Dugo in 1847 innings +6.4 +8 Duvall in 1177 innings +1.5 Dugo better in LF
  10. Well, there was the... Haywood Sullivan, Buddy LeRoux & Jean Yawkey group and The JRY Trust with John Harrington Those two bars were a bit higher. I'll just say, 4 rings in 2 decades will be hard to top, so be careful what you wish for.
  11. What's not spent of the fans money on salaries goes into the owners' pockets.
  12. I know it's coming. I just wish we'd make a strong pivot from quantity to quality. We have a pretty solid foundation and some young talent as well. We don't need to divide whatever the budget is by 5-6. We need to divide by 2-3 and get talent.
  13. Yup. I usually avoid the "what if" game on the budget, and I think Bloom made a lot of shrewd signings, like Martin, Jansen, Duvall and Turner, but... No Kluber $10M No Kike $10M No Mondesi $3M Tax Room $6-9M We are talking almost $30M! Eflin and Wacha would have been nice, and it would have been cheaper, in terms of 2023 dollars.
  14. LOL. Duvall is a better defender than Duran, Ref and Yoshida- maybe Dugo, too. Turner can back up 1B and 3B, but I get the point. Give me two solid SP'ers and nothing else, and we'll be better than 1 SP and _____.
  15. I thought he and Houck refused the vaccine. My bad.
  16. We won't spend all or 90% of the budget on the rotation, so I do think we address replacing one of these big RH'd bats, but to me the rotation is the first, second and third priority. I don't think spending pretty big on a two year deal will have the same impact as spending more on pitching- not that spending on pitching is ever a sure bet.
  17. We have been playing whack a mole. Last year: try to fix the rotation with 2 SP'ers. This year, neglect the rotation and sign 2 very nice RP'ers and some depth.
  18. He was listening to everyone from this board saying we just needed a strong pen! (LOL)
  19. Between this and the whole COVID vaccine thing, I'm about at the end of my tolerance rope.
  20. ERA- in 2023 4. Snell 63 7. Wacha 69 17. ERod 75 38. Lorenzen 85 45. Paxton 87 50. Stroman 89 67. Nola 98 77. Giolito 102 79 Urias 103 2021-2023 6. Urias 73 19. Stroman 83 21. Snell 85 32. Nola 95 fWAR '21-'23 4. Nola 13.8 15. Urias 9.8 29. Snell8.5
  21. Age should be a big factor, and to me, it is worth overpaying for a 28 year old vs 30 or 31.
  22. He still seems better than many of your list.
  23. We ionly get one everyday players slot on Sept 1st. I think we keep Rafaela and Abreu up, when Duran returns.
  24. I'd love to bring Turner back, but I doubt we do. Yoshida should DH, and Casas might be better suited to DH, as well, but he can improve. I'm not thrilled about penciling in Duran FT, but a platoon with ref in LF should be fine. Rafaela, Abreu and Dugo in CF/RF should be okay, too, and with Yoshida as DH who can play LF, I don't think we add an OF'er or bring back Duvall. C: Wong & McGuire (Scott in AAA) Teel on the rise 1B: Casas (Dalbec in AAA) EValdez, Jordan and Kavadas as deeper depth 2B: Urias and Reyes (DHam, EValdez and Bonaci in AAA) Torke on the rise SS: Story w Reyes and Urias as ML depth (DHam and Bonaci in AAA) Mayer on the rise 3B: Devers with Urias as ML depth (Meidroth in AAA) LF: Duran & ref platoon w Yoshida s ML depth (Rosier in AAA but not on 40.) CF: Rafaela/Abreu with Duran as ML depth and Anthony/Bleis on the rise RF: Dugo and Abreu with Ref as ML depth DH: Yoshida with Casas or EValdez/Duran/Ref as depth (Dalbec in AAA)
