  1. Ok, trade Dugo for SS.
  2. A lot of speculation going on.
  3. Bleis is only 19 and had a very good FCL year before his injury, this year. SP's has this as his summary: Potential everyday player who adds significant value in all facets of the game. High-risk prospect with a wide variance of outcomes. Checks all the boxes you look for in a prospect his age. If he reaches his potential, all five tools could grade at least as average. Raw power is his best current tool, but has the potential to hit for average as well. Has the highest upside of any Latin American prospect in the system. Scouts praised him as the best position player they saw in the FCL during the 2022 season.

  6. Sub Yamamoto for Snell, trade for Senga and we can get a big Japanese TV deal to pay for them all.
  7. Abreu is "faster?"
  8. MLB.com on some interesting facts about Snell's 2023 season... Snell is looking to become the first AL/NL pitcher since 1913 -- when earned runs became official in both leagues -- to lead the Majors in both ERA and walks. Snell leads in ERA by 30 points over Justin Steele (2.73) and has 12 more walks than Charlie Morton (81). Snell has a whopping 13.4% walk rate, making this one of 173 seasons in MLB history in which a pitcher had a walk rate above 13% in 150 or more innings. Snell’s 169 ERA+ would be the highest of all those seasons, besting Hal Newhouser's 162 ERA+ in the 1942 season. If Snell walks seven more batters the rest of the season, he'd become the second pitcher ever -- and first since Sam McDowell in 1966 -- with 200 or more strikeouts and 100-plus walks across fewer than 200 innings in a season. If he wins the Cy Young Award, Snell would become the first pitcher since Early Wynn in 1959 to lead the Majors in walks while winning the award.
  9. So, 4 out of 4 is an F-? I don't count 2020.
  10. Go for younger arms. Outbid everyone for Yamamoto Trade for a younger pitcher.
  11. I was going to put him in tier 1, then forgot to put him in 2.
  12. One tier one and one tier two would be a dream come true, but we might be lucky to get one tier two and a tier three. We'll never come to a consensus on wo belongs in tier 1, 2 or 3, but my top two tiers would include: One Yamamoto Nola Snell Kershaw Two S Gray Montgomery Morton ERod (opt out) Borderline 2-3 tier Giolito Wacha Stroman
  13. The one page that should have been ripped out years ago.
  14. I can understand overvaluing your own guys, but there comes a point, at times, when the best idea is to trade a guy for the best return you can get, regardless of it not being "good enough." Getting something is better than getting nothing or just a comp pick.
  15. It could be a slow swinging pendulum that is almost at rest- swing just slightly left and right.
  16. I mentioned Perales in this post.
  17. Thanks for pulling that from the archives.
  18. When was the last time a Sox farm system just graduated 2 players like Bello & Casas and still had a top 4 like this? 1. Anthony 2. Mayer 3. Teel 4. Bleis I'm really high on Cespedes, too, but it will take time for him to show he belongs in MLBs top 50-100. I also see hope in Rafaela, Yorke, Wikelman, Perales, Zanetello, Joh Garcia, Castro and Abreu. We have a bunch of farther away guys that will likely jump up, next year (and some that fall.)
  19. I'd stay away from TJS recoverees.
  20. Yes, he might be identified as a they.
  21. Not al all. Just a balanced approach. Some big contracts, some moderate, some small. A willingness to trade top prospects without trading almost all of them. A willingness to go out and get what is needed at the deadline, or to pull the plug, when needed and stop being afraid of the backlash, if you choose to fire sale a summer. Whichever way we go, we need to start hitting better on our larger deals. If all these guys earned their money, we'd have still been in the race, this year: Sale Story Yoshi Even 1 out of 3 would be a vast improvement.
  22. I'm pretty high on Teel, too. Another guy kind of lost is the talk due to an injury is Bleis. We have a really solid top 5. The second tier, maybe headlined by Rafaela and Cespedes seems hard to grade out, but that's probably true for most team's 6-10 or 12 prospects. I know some here seem to get upset when we get optimistic about our prospects and the future, but I find it odd that not everyone can see the skills so many of our prospects have and not think a few are going to be highly impactful. Perhaps the prevailing view of Bloom will be changed in 4-6 years, as we see some of these kids hitting their strides.
  23. The pendulum needs to not swing so far each way. In fact, how about just resting somewhere in the middle?
  24. I do think Bloom deserves a B to B-, as of now, on the foundation/farm he built for te next guy. It's still mostly speculative and that grade could go up or down. I do think he was dealt a rough hand to start with, in terms of trying to win at the big level, every year after 2020. I think he deserves some slack for 2021 and 2022, and he actually did fine in '21, despite my thinking he made better winter deals before '22 than '21. It's the 2023 season that kills his grade for assembling the big club rosters to a winning combination. I have to give him a D in that area. C- would be okay. Overall, I'd give him a C or maybe C+, but I am one to consider context more than others seem to do.
  25. It's happened more than once, but of course not as well as Pedro. Schilling Beckett Sale to some extent, Porcello All were extended.
