    Personally i am guilty of calling him "the Butterball". a different poster at BDC came up with the name and it makes me chuckle everytime. i am also guilty of supporting the signing when it happened. while i agreed it was an overpay i figured FO came to the conclusion it was worth it because of all the "panda" merch they expected to sell to fans. he was a fan favorite in SF - especially with the kids. and after all this is a business. i also thought he would play above avg defense and be avg with the stick. in reality he wasnt terrible offensively once he gave up batting RH. obviously the 21 pounds he gained in 21 days over Xmas murdered his 2016 season. the phantom shoulder injury saves face i suppose. he needs to make a life change for his eating habits. and as kimmi pointed out it very well could be disease/eating disorder/depression driven. i hope he gets the help he needs. in the meantime we have Shaw and he is doing a great job at 3rd and at minimum salary.

    when on forums i find it impossible to do anything but post simple text from my ipad. try loading your avatar from a old fashioned computer and see if that works.

    very good to see you lefty. always enjoy your posts. i dont think you have to wait for certain status as i had an avatar up right away. if you are using one you have saved on your computer click browse and then select the avatar. then you should just have to click "save changes" on the bottom right.

    WTF are you talking about? He batted over .400 in April 2001 with 9 hr and ops over 1.200 In fact he hit a HR in his first Fenway AB in a red sox uniform. I was there for it.....

    3.38 in 5 starts last April. I guess that's a "slow start". He pitched about 1 run better the rest of the season. So does that mean a 5.75 for the rest of this season.??

    From the creation of the thread - Me stating that it was clay was a fugazi. I thought that was pretty evident with post 21 at the time i posted it. Maybe it wasnt as plain to see as i thought so i suppose i will try and explain at post 152. The point being that everyone looked at the terrible numbers (in the first post) for this season and assumed they were clays numbers. When in fact they were our $31MM mans numbers. After a couple pages of posts I reveled the truth and was interested to see that most posters upon learning the truth still pummeled clay and let price off the hook. It would be interesting to find out why exactly but a good bet is people have a hard time believing that clay is worthy of our support at $13MM for this season while they believe that price is worthy of our support at 2.5 times the salary putting up worse numbers. Because why? Babip???? I created the thread so I know what it is about. Apologies if the shell game was too complex.....
