    fair enough. the point is....in the offseason i'm not giving QO to a #3 SP. you "should" be able to pickup a #3 without QO. but it is possible i am misreading the market?

    the shift works on a player like Ortiz because he is not trying to get basehits. ever. he is trying to jog around the bases. and that is exactly what we want him to do. they dont work on someone like HanRam or X-Bo because they arent trying to jog around the bases with every swing.

    we already have four #3 starters. why give up a QO for one in the offseason? a TOTR SP? thats a different story.......

    yup. thats how i read it too Max. although i was one of those anti-young peeps you had a valid point to make in a game where he destroyed a baseball vs a RHP. not sure why you are catching flak for it.

    the MFY fans will probably have ellsbury and gardner getting more votes than JBj. now if you are talking "deserve"....i agree. although if JBj keeps this up he may outtrout trout......yup. i said it.

    if he hits .280 and 10+ HR's a season he will go down as one of the greatest C of all time IMO...... he is young enough so he obviously has not peaked offensively yet. those numbers are within reach. Last year i was definitely on the "swihart is our man going forward" bus but it was easy to dismiss Vaz while he was recovering from TJ.....put me in as a "believer" now. Swihart is gone in july.......

    red sox will have 2 voted in: Xander & Papi. and 1 added: JBj. i think it's safe to say that Holt will NOT be our sole representative this season.....

    i wasn't advocating that. i wasnt referring to straight up sacrifice as in sac bunt which i think is what you are saying. but the rightside of infield approach with a runner on 2nd and 0 outs is the correct approach. if the ball gets through you get an RBI. if you groundout you move the runner over. it's not giving up an AB. it's directional hitting.

    rutledge has 137 games at SS, 104 at 2b, 16 at 3b, and 0 MLB games at any outfield position. i think i am done with trying an "infielder" in LF for awhile.

    2 games in a row he has looked like an Ace. perhaps he has turned the corner this season. wright is still pitching great and if Porcello's latest start was an outlier than we have 3 pretty decent shots to get a W everytime through.....
