    idk....he's got kind of a big contract. seems like a bad signing by DD to me. who were we bidding against?? 2016 Boston Red Sox $6,500,000 2017 Boston Red Sox $6,500,000 (he made 2.5MM with the MFY last year)....

    Hey SY. i have the MLB extra innings package through Directv (since 1999). so i get the NESN feed for 144 games a year. the 18-19 games they play the MFY they blackout NESN and force me to watch the game on YES since i am considered NY home team location.

    if we hover close to first place for the next couple months (within a game or two) I expect DD will pull the trigger on obtaining TOTR SP. I am going to do my best not to get too attached to Moncada, Devers, Espy, or the Italian Stallion until post deadline as i believe at least 2 of these will be gone if we are within striking distance. hopefully it will be for someone under team control for a few years instead of "rental" type.

    since i live in enemy territory game is blacked out on NESN forcing me to only have YES as an option. will be listening to WEEI radio feed via MLB.com instead.....

    i think Rusney must have been caught with his hand in the cookie jar (mrs. henry perhaps?). there is no other way to explain why he isnt on the MLB club. to your point of more playing time...i would guess if the plan is to mostly use holt in LF that rusney gets more time in AAA. also, DD signed Young so there may be some pride being tested here. he certainly hasnt had any problem kicking Cherries signing (The Butterball) in the yam sack. does he man up and do the same to his (what appears to be) bad signing???

    well if we are talking about inside-outting 2-0 FB's to the opposite field to try and dink and dunk a basehit than i agree that the approach would be wrong. but to get behind in the count and switch to a "make contact" approach is what i think the players have been doing.

    making contact as opposed to trying to crush HR's make a batter more susceptible to slumps? i would like to hear your reasoning for thinking this. @S5 - i also enjoy the opposite field "make contact" approach that all hitters have been doing. i especially like it when a RH batter is doing it with a runner on 2nd and 0 outs. these guys are willing to sacrifice an AB / stat in order to move their teammate over to 3rd. that is team building and goes along way to parades....

    i wonder if David Ortiz farewell season factors into team effort thus far this season? personally i think that is more of a motivator than JF. 2013 - the Tsarnaev brothers were the motivator. not JF. How well does JF "motivate" his players? i would look at 2014 & first half of 2015. he really doesn't do a good job of getting the players to play hard for him. this year the team is doing it for Papi. and i am fine with that. JF just needs to minimize some of those head scratching decisions. there were quite a few at the beginning of the season but a 5 game winning streak most certainly puts it to the back of our minds.
