  1. replace "Buchholz" with "Price" and have at it. at least my bet only cost me $13MM.....
  2. i agree with you - i dont think we see it the same way. to me, Buchholz (and his sh1tea performance in 2016) is not a problem. it's a 1 year option at minimal cost and i didnt expect him to be TOTR guy (although i always hold out hope). Price OTOH (and his sh1tea performance in 2016) is a problem. it's a 7 year deal (the highest contract ever for a SP i believe) for $31MM per and i DO expect him to be a TOTR guy. we can look at all the peripherals we want to show me how great Price has been this year. but there is only 1 true number when it comes to SP. that number for Price is currently 4.74. this puts him about as close to buchholz (5.90) as he is to Porcello (3.78). you can forget about wright and his 2.18. i hope your last sentence is because you believe Price will pitch 1.50 the rest of the way instead of wright or porcello pitching to a 6.00.....
  3. Hey SnC. i thought about this. there are players that thrive elsewhere but crumble under the spotlight that is Boston Red Sox. i am starting to fear the Price is one of these.
  4. Dont worry, be Happy. apparently.
  5. 2 years from now Price will still have 4+ years left on his $217MM contract and Buchholz will not be under Boston contract.
  6. the pay is completely relevant. 1 is expected to be an ACE, the other is expected to pitch 130 innings. Buchholz option wasnt picked up for him to be the "Ace". here's a pop quiz: do you want a guy with a 4.8 ERA making $31MM x 7 years? to answer yours: i would take the knuckleballer or Porcello over either of them.
  7. 1 is on a 1 year $13mm option and the other signed a 7 year $217mm contract. Is that too difficult for you to understand?
  8. wait...isn't Price the #5 spot?
  9. i think he pulled something on a swing.
  10. the batter before hanley needed to get a run home with less than 2 outs.
  11. well not looking like i will be sleeping tonight......
  12. ERA+ 95 but i am told not to worry. its an "Ace". Ortiz going yard today.
  13. when i watched it happen i said to myself "6-8 weeks"....
  14. i really really really like hanram on this team. he is the type of guy you need on a playoff type team. Shaw has really really really surprised me. seems he has made the adjustment on the high stuff.
  15. up until a few years ago he would have never even gone on the DL.
  16. wow, you needed to come onto a Red Sox fan forum to post this? tremendous.
  17. Rick Porcello. thats my dude right there.
  18. i can only judge by what i see him doing this year if i am going to trade a moncada or similar for him. and really he has only had a couple years in the league / 1 year of 200+ IP. 2 good years and what looks to be 1 bad year. that's a 66% success rate. i dont know that i trade high level anything for 66%.
  19. no thanks. we already have a boatload of 4-10 / 4.70 ERA / 1.43 WHIP pitchers on our team. no need to spend valuable prospects on obtaining another one....
  20. we dont need to include any of the B's to get a Fernandez type. we have enough high level prospects to get it done without including one of them.
  21. i, for one, am expecting quite a bit more since this past offseason we spent $217MM on an "Ace" and traded away some good talent for a stud "Closer".......
  22. Game 76 - TIE JBj: 0-4 / RS / BB JE: 1-4 / RS Score: JBj: 42 JE: 24 Tie: 10
  23. FTR - Cueto was my #1, #2, and #3 want this offseason.....
