  1. its two different discussions Notin. i know you are a very smart man. one discussion is about focus. the other is about clutch. you know that. i know that. my last post to you was entirely in response to your claim of player focus. it had zero to do with "clutch". please dont strawman it into one. my comment about the Mets was that the hitters (to me anyways) were WAAAAY more focused on their AB's after Cabrera got buzzed. it had zero to do with Price's postseason woes or Ortiz being the most clutch baseball player that ever lived. in fact my post regarding the Mets didnt even contain the word Clutch. as for the players on record stating that they never give an AB away - i would never ever ever expect a player to go on record stating anything other than "i try 100% every single pitch of every single at bat". if he was to say anything other than that he would get crucified. you know that. i know that.
  2. so you dont think he went 4-6 the next night because he wasnt more focused? it was just coincidence? is that really what you think?
  3. Riddle me this....if you will..... Monday Night...NYM @ Phila....8th inning...game tied 2-2... Asdrubal Cabrera steps into the box. Edubray Ramos decides its a great time to throw one at his head for a bat flip Cabrera did a year ago. Cabrera walked and 2 batters later Bruce smokes a 2 run HR. did the headhunting INCREASE the NYM focus? did every single NYM batter since the 8th inning of Monday night step into the batters box more focused against the phillies pitchers? how about Cabrera? is it possible he was EXTRA MOTIVATED and EXTRA FOCUSED on Tuesday night after thinking about the head hunting for 24 hours? Tuesday night...Mets 14 runs. Asdrubal Cabrera 4-6 / 2RBI / 3RS I'm sure you believe that Cabrera was just as focused during Tuesday nights AB's as he is every other night for the other 5,226 AB's he has had in his career. Nothing to see here. he is equally focused in every single one of those AB's.......or maybe a players focus does increase in certain situations?????
  4. personally i was absolutely disgusted that we traded a future pitching god for a relief pitcher that had half a season of success as a starter. Espinoza will win 17 cy youngs (this will be a record). pom will struggle to stay healthy as a starter for an entire season.......
  5. DD. there is no farm system when DD is the GM. this is FACT.
  6. no. you won't. 1/2 a season will prove nothing to us. he still needs to prove he can be an effective starter for an entire season. can he stay healthy and pitch all season? or is he really just a reliever trying to be a starter? TBD.....
  7. post of the year right here boys and girls. well played sir.
  8. Game 7 - JE JBj: DL JE: 1-4 / RBI JBj: 2 JE: 2.5 Tie: 1 DL: 1.5
  9. Oh and just like the other years...once the DL start date is confirmed the scoring will switch to 1/2 point to the active player and 1/2 point to DL column. so JE may lose a 1/2 point for Game 5 & Game 6. thanks.
  10. Hi Dgale. thanks for your query. you forgot to mention the RBI that JBj got in that game. the RBI = the base hit that JE got. do you think a basehit is more important than an RBI? did you take the thread seriously the last 2 seasons? how about the final ST score? they seemed to equate to the WAR numbers quite well. do you consider WAR numbers to be taken seriously? After consideration the scoring for Game 4 will remain a Tie. thanks.
  11. moon - is the DL retroactive to April 9?
  12. i was about to type something similar HFX. Any of us taking the time to post on this Red Sox board certainly knows the "big moments" of a crucial (see: postseason) baseball game. i like your hendu example of someone coming up clutch while in the same game other players failed to come up clutch and chocked.
  13. Moreland trying his best chris young impersonation. start slow and then holy smokes.....
  14. because i deem the deniers to be unworthy.....
  15. this is a fantastic pitching matchup. thank god for mlb app.....
  16. Game 6 - JE JBj: DL JE: DNS (pinch runner) SB / RS JBj: 2 JE: 2 Tie: 1 DL: 1
  17. Game 5 - JE JBj: DL JE: 1-4 / RS JBj: 2 JE: 1.5 Tie: 1 DL: 0.5
  18. Game 4 - Tie JBj: 0-3 / RBI JE: 1-4 JBj: 2 JE: 1 Tie: 1
  19. Game 3 - JE JBj: 1-4/ RBI / RS JE: 3-4 / RS / RBI JBj: 2 JE: 1
  20. the name is money though. worth it just for that.
  21. For those that acknowledge the existence of Clutch - Please carry on with your memories of our 3 WS championships in the 21st century and enjoy every moment in speaking of, remembering fondly one Mr. David Ortiz. You may also enjoy the retirement of his jersey number and look fondly at his number on the facade of Fenway when it's retired officially. for the Climate....I mean Clutch deniers - you are no longer ever allowed to mumble / think / yell "that was clutch" when one of our beloved Red Sox comes through in the........Clutch. You also should immediately look into the Men in Black pen and have all memories of #34 and our recent 3 WS's celebrations stricken from your denying brains. you have no respect for the joy so you dont deserve it. Carry on......
  22. yup. you're right...it took some searching around but i figured it out. thanks again!
  23. that 2 run HR is pretty important now though......
