    yeah. i wish it was the oldy times when the players were basically slaves to the front office. i mean they are "owners". the Red Sox are worth 3-4 billion dollars but god forbid a player...an actual player!...demand a slice of that 4 billion dollar pie! he should play for average american household salary and allow the owner to maximize all profits! MBGA!

    soemthing tells me if the report comes out and there was a "tell" (see: banging trash can) you would be too curious to not be able to review every pitch of every game in 2018. for your sanity i hope there is no such "tell".

    i am 99% sure he will be playing in another uniform next season. i am 1% sure he will be playing for the patriots next season. i am 0% sure he will retire.

    pretty good conspiracy. as for betts....agreed, it will hurt 2020 but by resetting LT (trading Mookie) maybe that means we get to keep Mookie from 2021-2031? would you do that deal?

    i know this is "revisionist" to a T but last offseason if we: - held off on Sale contract extension - did not sign Eovaldi - did not sign Pearce - tore up Porc's final year and signed him to a 3 year ext at a lower AAV would the above gotten us under the LT threshold last year and reset?

    if they shed JBj now and Price at the deadline i think that would get them under (without adding any more $). but that would mean we have to count on Price staying healthy and pitching acelike. but really, the single best thing my man chaim can do is to trade mookie. i just dont think JH opens his checkbook for mookie after this season if the LT isn't reset.

    exactly. thats why i have previously advocated giving him a blank contract to fill in the numbers. and now i am advocating trading Mookie to reset LT so that we can afford to pay him when he hits FA.

    Trouts contract + Pujols contract 100% prevents them from spending money on quality FA pitching. not sure of the draft/pipeline of young pitchers in the Angels Org but my guess is that its not much better then ours.

    i was just referring to player stats as they age. Mays played exceptional baseball into his late 30's. if Mookie was able to mirror that productivity his 10 year contract will be "worth" it. at least from strictly a player production vs salary aspect.

    not possible. the giant mechanical spider would have killed it already. you dont find it possible that a FO in baseball has bent the salary rules? like we would ever see a team hack another teams computer system?

    mays would be a good comp. if mookie is mays a 10 year contract will be zero issues.
