  1. is anyone advocating voting Xander into the HoF????
  2. sounds an awful lot like deflategate. no proof. science says otherwise. guilty!
  3. again...i would have been very OK with sending Pedro back out for the 8th if when walking off the mound after the 7th he DIDN'T POINT TO GOD AND LOOK TO THE SHOWERS. this isn't even up for debate. Pedro checked out mentally. now i know Notin thinks all major league players give 100% focus on every pitch of every game / regular season / spring training / postseason because hey they are the best .0001% players in the world and they only got there because they always always always give 100% and that walking off the mound thinking you are done after leaving it all on the field for 7 innings it is super easy to flip that switch and come back out the next inning. grady lost his job because he made the dumbest mistake in the history of the red sox outside of selling ruth to the hated yankees. its. not. rocket. science.
  4. what is your grudge with devers?
  5. good point. he may actually be worth $420MM if he stopped teh bowling nonsense and focused 100% on baseball ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  6. i mean, who amongst us hasn't chugged beers whilst our buddies took turns on an underage drunk girl? if it's you - please feel free to throw the first stone. alternately - it will all be forgotten the first day he goes 3for4...
  7. not a chance
  8. fair response. i guess i'm going with the mantra that Cora instituted something nefarious in 2018. if the investigation concludes that the Sox did nothing illegal i will post my mea culpa.
  9. i dont like this move by Bloom at all. we really needed to clean out all of the Alex Cora cheating stink. and that included any coach that was in the dugout the past 2 seasons. between this and the betts/price trade that is failing apart i am losing faith in Bloom. with that said... Fire Roenicke!
  10. i dont like this choice at all. Bloom needed to clean out all the stink IMO.
  11. here is the problem though. pedro already mentally checked out of that game. he walked off the mound after the 7th inning and pointed to the sky. thats pedro speak for "time to shower". his arm may have been 75% but his mind was at 0%. grady little was a f***ing buffoon to put him back out there.
  12. only Red Sox pitchers get injured!
  13. i'm just not sure about that. this is the paragraph: Clubs that exceed the threshold by $20 million to $40 million are also subject to a 12 percent surtax. Meanwhile, those who exceed it by more than $40 million are taxed at a 42.5 percent rate the first time and a 45 percent rate if they exceed it by more than $40 million again the following year(s). i read this as there is no surtax if you are at $227MM. but once you hit $228 you get whacked with a 12% tax on the amount over $208MM (there is a possibility the 12% tax may be applied to the full $228). if you are $40MM over then you get hit extra hard and the tax rate is not 12% but 42.5%. 2 years in a row $40mm over and that rate goes to 45%. i think more research is needed. we need sam kennedy to chime in on this one.
  14. weird. a starting pitcher was used for an inning of relief in the postseason? oh, wait...your team hasn't had a parade in so long that you are not familiar with how modern day postseason pitching is utilized. FYI - it's no longer 8 innings of SP + 1 inning from mariano.
  15. is that definite? i have a hard time finding the exact layout of this. my understanding is the surtax % is based on how much over you were and you are taxed on all the overage accordingly.
  16. i believe the surtax is applied to anything over $208MM
  17. i think they can DFA him in ST and only be on the books for a fraction of the $11MM?
  18. did you get your NYY 2019 WS champs tshirt yet???
  19. awesome thing to post on a Red Sox forum. thanks for stopping by and taking the time to post this for us to read.
  20. add another $17MM to that number. the 45% surtax for being $40MM over 2 years in a row if they didnt reset. Competitive Balance Tax: Clubs that exceed the threshold by $20 million to $40 million are also subject to a 12 percent surtax. Meanwhile, those who exceed it by more than $40 million are taxed at a 42.5 percent rate the first time and a 45 percent rate if they exceed it by more than $40 million again the following year(s).
