2 of those 3 are excellent defensively. what are our other options for those 3 positions? Hanley is not hitting right now. if he is not hitting, he is easily swapped out defensively with MM. it doesn't take moving 2 other players and weakening 2 defensive positions to replace HanRam with MM. it actually improves the D. but if we do what you are recommending...a non hitting defensive liability is kept in the lineup. a non hitting defensive wizard is replaced by a non hitting avg defensive RFer. and that RFer is replaced by a horrific fielder that is already in the lineup as a hitter only. I like my idea better. we shall see what Cora thinks......

if he doesn't heat back up soon I can definitely see his AB's getting squeezed sooner than later just because of the contract..... Last 12 games: 0 HR / 4 RBI / .690 OPS. Im actually surprised they haven't sat him already.

DD gave Price $217MM. will go down as the worst contract ever. DD overpaid for Kimbrell. (this statement is debatable) DD traded a top prospect for an injured RP recently transitioned to SP. DD traded for Sale. (this is the one everyone agrees was a layup). I have little faith DD will find a cheap hidden gem.

The AL has DH. That’s why this doesn’t have to be a choice. They can both play erryday. But in your hypothetical the team needs a big bat in the lineup. So if JDM roster spot is replaced by a big bat DH I would keep JBj and his low salary + lockdown elite up the middle defense.
