  1. As long as there’s a good hitter in the 3 Spot, I don’t thnk it matters. (2nd most RBI opportunities)
  2. Was watching 2013’s WS game 6 earlier this morning to get ready for Opening Day. Hope everyone enjoys the season. Go Sox!
  3. Ha! Lol Salazar IS hurt again. That’s funny
  4. I highly doubt Swihart will ever be as good defensively as Vaz or Sandy. But I think he can get better. Maybe even learn a lot this season if he’s on the bench next to who isn’t starting & watching who is. I think Swi will be the better bat though.
  5. Yeah the passed balls are his fault. The wild pitches aren’t. Spring weather too.
  6. Play gold glove CF, bat 9th. Stay forever.
  7. I’m sure Moreland is a better defensive 1Bman than Hanram. Thing is, it’s 1B and nobody can really tell and if they can tell it’s still 99% inconsequential... because it’s ... 1B.
  8. I remember a bad game catching Wright. But then again, all our catchers have bad games trying to catch Wright.
  9. “Above average CF” ... were you going for an massive understatment here or...? Maybe its a good thing JBJ isn’t an offensive force. If he was, he’d arguably be the best player in MLB (think Trout) and we probably couldn’t pay him what the market says he’s worth when the time comes.
  10. In my opinion, I think the obligation to the fans and winning baseball games supercedes any formal contract. If playing HanRam more (and his option vests) because he’s helping us win, so be it. If platooning him w/ Moreland Because it makes sense and we’re a better team because of it (and his option doesn’t vest), so be it.
  11. Unless XB is hurt (past wrist problems from being hbp), they should have the utmost confidence in him. He’s had time to heal from last season and get his mechanics back to what they once were before the injury.
  12. I think some regression is possible for the Yanks, especially their offense. Stanton is a great pickup, you make that deal twice on sunday, but they did trade away the only guy in their lineup that hit .300 last season to get him. Just sayin’. Is Judge gonna hit another 53 HRs? I seriously doubt it. Pitchers started figuring him out in the 2nd half, Judge posted a .230/.393/.548 slash line with just 58 hits, 104 strikeouts from early July to season’s end. I see the Yanks with increased expectations going into this season, but a lot is riding on their youth.. and there’s a lot of it. That can be a good thing or a bad thing as far as expectations go. I tip my cap to most of their trades and FA signings these last few years. But my opinions come from a Sox fan who’s seen regression from so much of our own youth, some more than others, sometimes even slight injuries that ultimately cause regression. It happens. Barring any major injury(s) I like Boston’s chances to win the AL East. I think the Sox are more battle tested, more experienced, more calibrated.
  13. Yeah but the sox leaving Holt off the 25???... I’ll believe it when I see it.
  14. That would’ve been great. I found the Moreland signing a bit of a head scratcher anyway and Holt... well, we have the same opinion on Holt. Should’ve traded him to an NL team while his value was at it’s highest back when he was named an All Star.
  15. Swihart had a really nice block catching Porcello the other day. I didn’t watch yesterday’s game though.
  16. With who, Holt?
  17. Meh. You want to take Devers out the lineup at any point? I sure don’t.
  18. True on both fronts. Which only highlights my opinion on the significance of panicly adding another SP without any real evidence of needing one quite yet. I’d rather wait and get a good one months ( & months) from now. Also, I feel confident leaning on our offense earlier in the season. It typically takes 4-6 starts in the rotation to start judging any SP. It takes that long for them to start peaking and getting in their own groove (if there’s a groove to be had, that is). I’ll start projecting then. I’d agree with Notin if our budget wasn’t so f***ed. I’d have loved to sign Lynn, but we couldn’t afford even his cheap & short contract (we’d be $8M over the 2nd penalty, right?).
  19. Rather get a loogy if he’d be on the cheap. Then wait until later in the season for another SP if need be.
  20. Along w/ 3 others, right? Not sure who.
  21. Mookie goes yard
  22. Lynn has signed w/ the Twins 1yr/$12M. I’m kinda happy he’ll be available next off season. And if the Twins suck, maybe earlier. And if he sucks, forget about it.
  23. I’d like it better he stuck on and contributed long term, sure. But if he got his value up close to what it was ( & I’m going w/ a 65% chance that could happen) getting something of value back in a trade later in the season could be huge for our chances this year. These are best case scenarios. But for the fans that think we need another meaningful SP, this could be our only chance to get one. So, by all means, either way, root for Swihart.
  24. I read a recent article that other teams are already inquiring about Swihart. Teams are smart, they’re looking to buy low. I just hope we’re smarter. I think there’s a good chance he cld increase his value over the course of a few months. Could be our best chance (a solid piece in a tade) to aquire another SP later on if need be.
