    Shiiit, if XB is gonna hit like he did yesterday, I’ll take him batting in the 3 hole. I think a lot of our hitters are interchangable though.

    What happens when/if their not? Besides early arbitrations, that’s what we’re paying Pedroia between his two contracts. Forget Mookie, maybe not a good comparison (but injuries do happen). XB, Beni, Devers, maybe JBJ are all way better comps. Unless I’m mistaken. Did they buy out a year of Pedey’s first extention?

    EVERYONE and their f***ing grandmother KNEW Cano would get more. Was it a 2 weeks later? 2014, 10yrs@$240M. Pick any individual year, Pedroia has never been the highest paid 2B ever. This is semantics

    I know we’ve had this discussion before. I don’t believe the sox could have contractually traded him. Ithink it was built in to his extention, tenure had nothing to do with it. At least thats what I remember, i could be wrong. I don’t think I am tho. Either way, it was considered a hometown discount at the time, maybe that was the trade-off?

    Can’t call it a joke after ONE game guy. Give it a week or two. He did have a walk. And we’ve done great vs archer historically, but he’s not what I would call a slouch.

    Good post. I just want add, putting in your Closer in the 8th, then having him go out and pitch the 9th has yielded poor results as well, in the past. Kimbrel seems to feed off his adrenaline. He’s had poor results pitching 1/3 or 2/3 of the 8th, sit a half inning, then try and close out the game in the 9th. If Cora & Kimbrel had that conversation prior to the game, about pitching a “clean inning”, that’s probably what was being refered to.

    I agree. Only in this situation, Cora limited Barnes to one inning and then threw matchups out the window. I still think the strike zone changed in the 8th and both Kelly & Smith were getting squeezed... like on a ridiculous level. Multiple times. That can frustrate any pitcher. Part of Cora’s job is to realize this and make multiple changes if need be before things get out of hand. It’s a tough loss. It sucks. But sometimes a bad loss is just what a team needs. We’ll see how they react. I hope they’ll be better for it.

    I’m starting to get over this loss already. It’s one game. Cora needs to get his s*** together. No better time for a Lesson learned, rather him learn it now. The BP need to get their s*** together. Hope that HP ump gets his s*** together because he was downright horrible. Just as bad as Kelly. Look on the bright side, The Rays have peaked. It’s all down hill from here for them. It’s gotta suck to have your best game of the season (with massive help from the umpires) right out of the gate. Whatever, On to game #2.

    Looked like he struck out Keirmier to me. That would’ve been out two. Umpire changed the strike zone. Archer & Sale were getting those.
