  1. I would agree unless the Sox get a good offer for him. If you want to keep him as a bench option, you are declaring you don't think much of him, so why not trade him if he can help bring in someone who can contribute?
  2. You've been one of his stoutest defenders. My view is a QO is OK, but not for a lot. Maybe $10M. Tonight he did well without his good changeup and without many sliders or curves. Mostly he threw three kinds of fastballs.
  3. I was one of them. To me Schwarber in 2021 is a dead ringer for JDM in 2018. He's made everyone in the Sox lineup better, especially in the postseason. Alternating at the top spot with Kike has, I think, really helped Kike. But it's more than that. Against righties JDM is batting freaking 6th with an OPS of 1.310. The other thing is that, while hitters definitely can have up and down seasons, on the Sox they are usually more consistent than Sox pitchers, especially the expensive ones. Sale comes to mind on the current team, and even Barnes, who went into a tailspin almost immediately after getting that new two year raise in pay. Price, of course, who is still on the payroll.
  4. ESPN postgame coverage is all about ERod pointing to his watch. Can there be any doubt they hate the Sox beating the Yankees and now possibly heading for the WS?
  5. Renfroe needs to be the glove man because lately his bat--OPS .663, lowest in the lineup--and arm aren't helping much.
  6. I've never heard that, but it sure makes sense--game 4 of 7 has to be the fulcrum. Also agree with D-money that the Astros are still a tough out.
  7. For which I have continuously been the sole advocate.
  8. Stunning 5th by ERod. All fastballs. What do I know.
  9. ERod got sloppy, plus he is hittable when he doesn’t trust his changeup.
  10. This Garcia looks pretty good. He throws a sinker and a 4 seamer, both at 94 mph.
  11. Gotta say I think Vazquez is calling a good game. That leadoff single seem to upset ERod, but then he settled down, especially after Kike caught liner, and Vazquez did a great job backing up Schwarber on that very high throw.
  12. Target. Without any doubt, I was tensed up, plus Bogey pissed me off with that 3 pitch K.
  13. 1st and 2d innings like night and day. Verdugo works a walk, JDM gets a solid double, and Urquiddy, sabotaged by his second baseman, comes apart at the seams. In the 2d inning ERod also looked very good.
  14. Somebody said on another thread that when the Astros played at Fenway in 2018, they couldn't handle the weather. Kind of looks that way tonight. That dinger by Schwarber went really far.
  15. It did about 4 comments ago. Also my comment about slow pitch softballers, which was mostly based on Bogey's at bat. Urquiddy helped some when he stopped throwing strikes, and Altuve helped a bunch more blowing that GIDP, which is his 2d time in this ALCS.
  16. Excellent curve by Urquiddy for strike 2 swinging. And Altuve comes through again!!!! Do not ever, ever tell me the Astros are a good defensive team, not when they stick their DH at 2b.
  17. Definitely a smart at bat, punched that slider to RF for a single.
  18. Need a smart at bat by Vazquez. No, repeat no GIDP. Great! Takes a ball on first pitch.
  19. Tough call on strike 2 to Renfroe. Bases loaded!!!!
  20. Finally! Huge double by JDM. And Renfroe actually looked at a ball instead of swinging at it. Make that 2!
  21. OK. Good at bat by Verdugo. 10 pitches so far.
  22. Bogey looks at a fastball down the middle, swings at a slider a mile outside, then lets a slider go by for strike three. Now Verdugo takes two strikes down the middle--changeups. Looks like the Sox lineup is going to roll over in this game.
  23. ERod looking very professional and skilled after 2 innings. The Sox lineup, on the other hand, looks like it expected to be playing slow pitch soft ball.
