  1. Nice play by the Astros--almost nailed Schwarber.
  2. He was lucky to hit it--it could have been called a ball. That pitch was on a 3-1 count.
  3. Not a good swing by Arroyo. That was an 88 mph four seamer right down the middle, which he should have crushed. Dusty saw it too--time for a fresh arm.
  4. Sure was. Also a lousy at bat last inning when Renfroe swung at the 5th pitch.
  5. That's baseball for you. I'm sure the game announcers are thrilled.
  6. Greinke doesn't have great stuff, but he and his catcher are in sync. Vazquez, I would argue, is not helping Pivetta one bit.
  7. This is why I don't like Vazquez--but also don't mind giving him credit when he calls a good game. In the top of the first he calls for 9 fastballs in 11 pitches, resulting in one very hard hit out and one hard hit dinger. In the top of the second with two on and two out and a weak hitter at the plate, he calls for two knuckle curves, both balls, one a wild pitch, before he finally, finally calls for fast balls.
  8. Another knuckle curve, another ball, but no WP.
  9. Why oh why did Vazquez call for a knuckle curve against a weak hitter with 2 on and 2 out?
  10. 13/24 strikes. Not exactly good Pivetta.
  11. d-money is on his time machine again, going back into the past. He just can't let go of the NLDS.
  12. Good K on Tucker, good call by Vazquez.
  13. Frankly, I will be delighted if he takes pitches that are balls. Good eye on ball 3! He shoulda taken that 5th pitch.
  14. Three straight fastballs, the third one right down the middle. Vazquez at fault too.
  15. Astros error-prone. Gotta sympathize because the air temp is a bone-chilling 59 degrees.
  16. Sox up 2-1 thanks to our good-fielding SS who now and then gets a timely hit.
  17. Astros are error-prone. Must be the bone-chilling air temp of 59 degrees.
  18. All right!! Interestingly, it was Greinke's first slider, and it was a little up in the zone and in the middle. 2-1 Sox, courtesy of our solid-fielding SS who gets a hit now and then.
  19. Greinke throwing fastballs, 4 seamers, slow ones, right down the middle to Schwarber and Kike--and getting them out easily.
  20. Three straight fastballs, the third one right down the middle. What did you expect, Pivetta? For that matter, Pivetta has thrown all fastballs in the 1st inning--until the slider for the pop fly to RF. So Vazquez gets some share of the blame. A stupid start to the game. Correction. Pivetta threw 9 fastballs and 2 sliders in the 1st.
