  1. Perez with the bases loaded. Hmmmm. But why not? I know it's just a 1 run Astro lead, but their bullpen has pitched 7 straight scoreless innings and I don't see them not pitching an 8th.
  2. Fatal mistake was 4 straight fastballs to Correa. Dumb.
  3. I blame the consummate stupidity of Eovaldi throwing four straight fastballs.
  4. And what do Eovaldi/Vazquez finally do after giving up that double form 4 straight fastballs? Throw breaking balls to get a K. I swear baseball players are inherently stupid, and our guys are certainly no exception.
  5. So maybe it's Eovaldi and not Vazquez who is insisting on nothing but fastballs. Eovaldi's fastball has always been hittable when hitters know it's coming. Just stupid to throw 4 straight fastballs.
  6. Right now you gotta favor the Astros to get the next run because their bullpen has been just amazing. It is especially painful that Arroyo's triple and Bogey's double came with just 1 out, so Dugo and JDM crapped out and so did Schwarber and Kike.
  7. All of their relievers have looked good tonight.
  8. Three straight sliders outside of the zone, and JDM just had to swing at one of them.
  9. Amazing how often the Sox are hitting grounders off those fastballs that are not low in the zone.
  10. Whitlock didn't actually look that good. No K's in 2 innings, for example. So now it's a brand new game and the Sox hitters need to, well, I'm searching for the word here, hit the dadgum ball.
  11. Say what? Should the Sox give that GIDP back?
  12. First pitch fastball right down the middle. Bad pitch call by Vazquez. Indeed, what has made Whitlock so effective this year is he actually has a decent repertoire.
  13. Slider was the perfect pitch for the K. Astros bullpen, 4 pitchers so far, has gone 5.2 scoreless innings. Sox bullpen has gone 2 scoreless.
  14. Bogey has 2 hits. His 8 teammates have 1, Arroyo's triple. The Sox are 0 for 8 with RISP.
  15. Weather report says it's 55 degrees right now in Boston. That ain't so cold. Whatever the reason, both teams' hitters are icy cold.
  16. Needed that lineout. Need Whitlock to get one more shutout inning. Are more Sox runs even remotely possible?
  17. You know it isn't always the hitters. Every so often you might consider the Astro pitchers have something to do with our lack of hitting. And, while you're at it, think about why the Astros hitters have only scored 1 run. Is it because they too are blind, stupid, and/or worthless?
  18. Guys are off tonight. That final pitch to Schwarber was definitely a pitch to hit. There have been plenty of others like that. After 6 innings, each team has 3 hits and the Sox are leading on Bogey's first inning dinger. Neither team has scored in the last five innings.
  19. Moved here last year after 20 years in Fairfax County and before that 60 years of moving around.
  20. Wow. Your guess is as good as mine. Eovaldi pitched game 2 and can start game 6, so an inning tonight is doable. Houck is the best choice to start tomorrow or to relieve Sale if he starts.
  21. 90 mph 4 seamer right down the middle and Renfroe misses it. Then another in the same place and he fouls it off.
  22. OK!!! Need 3 more outs from Ottavino, then 6 from Whitlock. But wouldn't it be nice if the Sox hitters would suddenly show up?
  23. Cora making some moves. Taylor for 2 outs, now Ottavino. I think he pulled Pivetta for 2 reasons: 3d time through the Astros order; not great command tonight. But no question Pivetta had a gutsy, great start against a tough lineup.
