  1. Maybe. I have read on talksox that he is the worst fielding first baseman in the last 150 years of American baseball. Ok, not that bad, but almost.
  2. That was not a wild pitch. It was a passed ball by Vazquez.
  3. Sweet play by Sanchez to whirl around and get the going to 2b.
  4. Schreiber is absolutely the right guy for this. Man on, and top of the order coming up. MLB has a really weird rule that lots of fans don't know about. Runs scored by the other team before the 9th inning actually do count as runs. I have to say that because I keep reading on talksox that the only inning that counts is the 9th inning.
  5. He is not a bum, but he also doesn't come anywhere near earning his pay. Before the game his fWAR was -0.5, and he's getting $8M.
  6. I'm telling you right now--no ifs, ands, or buts--the Jays computers are smarter than the Sox computers. The Sox keep hitting the ball hard right to someone, and the Jays keep hitting weak s*** right through our shifts.
  7. I have written JBJ off, but he has hit the ball hard tonight (plus the K of course).
  8. Don't say that. I've already x'd him out because of his defense.
  9. Agree completely on the first part. Do you want to bet on the second part about les cochons?
  10. Like I said 2 1/2 hours ago, I was definitely looking forward to this game. Too bad I then had to snipe at Devers, JDM, and Bogey who have been invaluable this year. Pivetta goes 6 and gets the quality start just when the Sox absolutely need one!!!!!!!
  11. Devers makes errors, but to me there is no question his head is in the game on defense and he is looking to get someone out. I wouldn't be surprised if he works harder on his defense than on his hitting.
  12. I'm not saying Refsnyder is a great outfielder, but he sure looks like he knows what he is doing out there.
  13. Yes indeed. And that is the great mystery of swinging that bat.
  14. My opinion, only that, is it was about their over-reaction to Kirk's HBP (by Pivetta).
  15. Pivetta at 90 pitches, exactly how many Wacha had last night after 5.
  16. And Verdugo delivers on that exact same fastball JDM can't hit. Fantastic!!! He's had a rotten season, but not lately, and that just might be one of the biggest hits of the season if the Sox can win this game.
  17. Devers now 0 for 3 with 2 popups and the K. JDM gets two fastballs in the freaking geometric center of the plate--and misses one and fouls the other off. And off goes JDM to celebrate for hitting a fair ball popup to CF that almost dropped in. All by himself he avoided 3 of 3 K's! Bogey breaks the curse with a brilliantly placed grounder/single to 3b!!!! The heart of the Sox order is back in business.
  18. 1 run game in the after 4 1/2 innings, and the world wonders when the real Devers, a better JDM, and a better Bogey will show up for this game. This will be their third look at Manoah, not counting the debacle back in April. Will it be the charm? Pivetta came to play. Refsnyder, Vazquez, and Cordero have delivered. Even Sanchez got a walk.
  19. Meh. Ball was well out of his reach. But it's for sure he can outjump Verdugo.
  20. Nice grab by Vazquez on the foul tip--for strike 3.
  21. Fastball high in the zone, and Springer just pounced on it.
  22. I sure hope not. Thanks to the MLBPA, no MLB manager in his right mind would consider speaking a harsh word to any player. Besides, I don't think that's Cora's style. He's no wimp, but he does seem to prefer talking sense to players and avoiding intimidation.
  23. He's also the only Sox starter showing any gumption in this series although credit to Wacha for pitching the 2-5 innings (after the terrible 1st) while giving up 1 run. Devers, JDM, and Bogey all look cowed by Manoah. In six at bats, they have 3 K's and no hits. Meanwhile, Vazquez and Cordero have all three Sox hits and Refsnyder the only rbi.
  24. Meanwhile, what Manoah did to the top of the Sox order was nothing less than bullying and should be reported to the principal--or the Commish. If the 2d inning is as bad, Cora needs to register a complaint.
