  1. Good summary. I would add that Cora has been dealing with this all season.
  2. Terrific job by Fitts despite his first 2 innings. Mr. Matz comes to the mound with his 1.08 ERA in 8 games in August. GIDP, easy-peasy!.
  3. Looks like the real Hamilton is back--although those are pretty good splitters (except the one to Duran). Sox 1/5 with RISP, but what a 1 that was.
  4. That time Raffy K'd because Sugano hit a bunch of corners.
  5. He gave up 3 freaking runs in 2 innings. Cora had no choice but to pull him and bring that other guy in. Never, ever question Cora's judgment.
  6. Duran hit that spitter which has been pretty effective, but this was a tad up in the zone, suggesting maybe it didn't break as much. Any way you look at it, Duran was amazing. That was to centerfield.
  7. Great move by Cora to replace that dipstick Fitts with someone who can get people out. Six straight outs, 4 of them by K's. Ace city.
  8. My vote is Hamilton. When Abreu returns, it could well be Rafaela.
  9. Huge dinger by Duran--whom I have unfairly maligned--huge. Whole new ballgame, obviously, with absolutely nothing guaranteed. Fitts is more frightening than Freddie Kruger. Lowe looked entirely too human on that K, but that splitter was also a doozy.
  10. Equally incredible 4th with 3 K's no baserunners.
  11. An unbelievable 3d by Fitts. With 2 outs and no one on, he walks one, hits a second, and walks a third batter to load the bases--followed by a solid single to bring 2 runs in.
  12. Decent changeup--hammered by Holliday for out #1.
  13. Horrible Sox top of the 3d. Fitts need to do no worse than he did at Philly on July 22. 4 IP, 2runs.
  14. Horrible at bat by Anthony. But that's how to get him out--throw him low stuff, especially breaking ball. The third pitch was a fat fastball which he took.
  15. Double by Wong, including aggressive baserunning.
  16. Baltimore ain't much, but Camden Yards is--and so is the inner harbor. Home of Johns Hopkins U.
  17. Here's hoping the good Sox show up this week.
  18. Sugano was tough 5 days ago vs Sox: 5 IP, 0 ER. The Sox were 0/13 with RISP in that game. Lowe tied it in the 9th with a dinger and Gonzalez on 1b. The Sox first run was on a balk. The Sox bullpen went 7 freaking innings giving up just 1 ER.
  19. If Wong keeps improving, it will be nice to two catchers rather than 1 1/2. Need Abreu and Ref back. Love to see Payton Tolle pitch, but not before he's ready.
  20. Not going to bluesky, but I do like the lineup: 6 lefty bats and 3 righty; Rafaela in CF and Hamilton at 2b, Not a Yoshida fan these days, but why not with Mayer and Abreu both out? The first five hitters--Anthony, Bregman, Duran, Story, and Lowe--look pretty good. The next four--Yoshida, Rafaela, Hamilton, and Wong--not so good. The Orioles are going with 4 lefty bats, 4 righty bats, and one switch hitter. 😁
  21. My thought is that playing Narvaez less makes him better. Catching is strenuous,
  22. Good. I knew Bernardino would just pitch the first. Heck, he pitched last night.
  23. "No need to waste time" evokes efficiency, not the national pastime. To remind. No one on the playing field can see that rectangle which we ,watching from far away, now take so much for granted. My goodness does it feed our little egos to know something nobody on the field of play knows. We alone are always right when no one else is. Sports and especially baseball are all about striving to make the right play, to hit a round ball with a round bat squarely, to throw strikes that are not easy to hit, to make the right throw or catch, to gain an advantage on the basepaths--and yes, to make the right call on the field. They are not about perfection. So, me, I can live with robo umps only if the hitter, catcher, or pitcher immediately challenges a call. If the hitter challenges a strike and is wrong, he should be penalized. Same goes for a pitcher or catcher challenging a ball.
