  1. US Open in NYC sounds great. Last night was in fact a surprise because Buehler dropped out of the rotation and Cora went with a patchwork quilt that worked surprisingly well, especially with Duran's 3 run dinger. Now Giolito, Bello, and Crochet start the next 3 at Camden Yards--an opportunity not to be lost. Sox pitching has been great, the hitting less so. Defense also good.
  2. I'm glad you both agree Story looks really good on defense this season. I don't know about how great his range is, but I love his instincts/intelligence on almost every play he makes. Maybe 3 months ago whoever was on 3b--not Bregman--had a pop fly and Story realized he'd lost it, so went over to catch it for him. I also think he has a reliable glove and arm.
  3. Matz was terrific in the 6th and 7th. So was Fitz in the 4th and 5th, Whitlock in the 8th, and Chapman in the 9th
  4. At Yankee Stadium the Sox had the bases loaded followed by 3 K's.
  5. Two very different closers, Uehara and Chapman.
  6. Game. Great win thanks to mighty Duran and everyone who pitched the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th innings.
  7. My fav was ERod who ran to 1b with great indifference and sometimes not at all.
  8. The Orioles reliever was making a lot of good pitches.
  9. MASN just replayed Hamilton's K about 6 times.
  10. I've said this before. When Earl Weaver was the Orioles manager he regularly said he believe in two things--great pitching and the 3-run dinger. Yoshida hitting the doggone ball. Kudos for him and Cora. The outhouse for me. 😁
  11. Can Whitlock pitch or can he freaking pitch??!!!!!!!
  12. MASN announcers just showed a graphic that the Orioles have killed Sox pitching from the 8th inning on this season. They have also replayed that great grab by the Orioles SS or 2b about 25 times.
  13. Whitlock gets a break, and it's about time for a Sox pitcher to get one tonight.
  14. Whitlock threw too many pitches about medium height. No lows and no highs. He made it easy for Henderson to foul them off until e finally nailed one.
  15. Back to the game. Great play by Matz/Bregman to get the guy going to 3b. Matz has nasty stuff. Nasty. 2 terrific IP exactly when needed. Great acquisition by Breslow--you know, Mr. Dipstick who blew the season a month ago by failing to get a #1 starter, 3 great righty bats,, 2 turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree. I'm not claiming Breslow is a genius, but I look like what he has done. This is a great team to root for.
  16. Lots of managers do it and the Rays routinely.
  17. Good summary. I would add that Cora has been dealing with this all season.
  18. Terrific job by Fitts despite his first 2 innings. Mr. Matz comes to the mound with his 1.08 ERA in 8 games in August. GIDP, easy-peasy!.
