With 3 runs in the 8th they went ahead 9-8 and kept it. If Crochet wins tomorrow--and after tonight I have my doubts about the hitting--this will have been one of the best road trips I can remember.

Humoungous guts by the pitching staff and that one incredible, beautiful, decisive swing by Rafaela. A game to remember. I still thing some of our guys are tired.

I kept saying he had 2 great months in June and July, which I thought were hopeful signs. August has been awful, but tonight Rafaela was right back in June-July with a double and a dinger and 2 gigantic rbi's.

Rafaela critics, please identify yourselves right now. I know who you are, but I want everyone to know--you cretins. Possible the biggest dinger of this season, given all that has gone before in this game.

I think guys are a little tired. I don't remember the last game when Story wasn't the shortstop. Bregman is also back to playing every day. Duran and Rafaela have both played a ton of games in a row. It is still awful to lose a game in which the pitching has been so great.

Oh, stop it. He didn't make any errors,passed balls, our letting a ball drop between 2 outfielders, both of whom could have caught it. He isn't one of our 2 best hitters, both of whom struck out with men on 1st and 3d and no one out (for Anthony) in the 8th. Tonight this is all on the lineup who have played like crap.

Hamilton was tagged before he got to the bag. If anything, he didn't have enough momentum.

Did you just fall off the rutabaga truck? I've been saying that for weeks. Others, not me,have pointed out that those 20 games of 10 or more runs inflated the Sox total runs scored. Tonight, unfortunately, is an egregious example of how piss-poor our lineup can be. Orioles only run is because of a passed ball. Later Story's error put the leadoff batter on in the 6th. Now the Orioles get their 2d run because both Duran and Rafaela quit on a catchable fly.

He did say that, but partly because he knows Breslow wants to play Yoshida so he can trade him without having to fork over all of Yoshida's remaining salary. Unfortunately--and I don't know who said this first--Yoshida sucks.

Abreu's recovery is going slowly. Narvaez OPS vs righties is .670 and Hamilton's is .587 vs righties plus he's a much better fielder. Cora's judgment is to mostly alternate between Wong and Narvaez behind the plate. Also in August Narvaez OPS is .562 and Wong's is .677. Agree on Yoshida. Ref's OPS vs. righties is slightly better than Yoshida's. Fantastic 6th by Bello, fighting back after the leadoff error by Story. Don't forget the Orioles only run was unearned.

Anthony K's on 3 pitches low in the zone. I predict more and more teams will pitch him that way. Low and inside is especially tough for him. Sox have batted through 5 innings and scored 1 stinking run.
