  1. To be completely honest, while I hope Johnson catches on and remains a starter and I'm excited about what he can do for us, I still think Velazquez would be the better starter if they were both to be given an equal chance.
  2. You just made my morning I hope you make my morning again tomorrow.
  3. I'm mighty impressed with our pickups Pearce and Kinsler. Play the hot hands I say!
  4. Thanks for bringing that up. I expect him to hit the DL too...
  5. It's a huge test for Price. I don't want to hear another "Yankees are my Daddy" speech afterwards.
  6. Yes very funny. We really were lucky that Sale and Kimbrel were on the trading block and our minors were at the time stocked with the talent to get them. Trout, Kershaw, and Bumgarner were never made available as far as I know. Now Justin Verlander, what a stroke of genius by the Houston GM. I admit I didn't realize how much he'd return to form.
  7. It's going to be a great series! I'm just a little worried that our hitters are worn down.
  8. Given the swoon that Moreland is in, on days when Pearce plays first and Leon is catching, I'd like to see Swihart DH.
  9. That's more or less what I expected with a serious ankle sprain; a 6 week vacation. He won't win 20 games like I'd been hoping, but he should be fully healed by the playoffs. Now our rotation is: Johnson Porcello Eovaldi Price Pomeranz Weird year. Well, we can put the "Johnson should be starting not Pomeranz" argument to rest; they're both in there. But I can switch to "Velazquez over Pomeranz"
  10. Let’s hope the day off helps.
  11. I really do get all my Sox news here. Wow this is very concerning!
  12. By the way, last night was my dream game. Swihart with the walk off hit and Velazquez with the win. It doesn't get any better
  13. Although, Brian Johnson is a lefty too... **** Charter member of the Brian Johnson / Hector Velazquez fan club.
  14. I have to say I'm really impressed with how well the pitching staff does under Leon. If they can keep it up under Swihart so much the better, but it seems like Vazquez going on the DL has helped the team.
  15. If your miracle occurs and Pomeranz pitches great, hooray. If Pomeranz is horrible and Johnson comes in to save the day, also great. If both are miserable, that would be sad.
  16. I suspect Johnson went to the pen instead of Pomeranz because he's our only lefty there. Brasier has been great so far. I just don't understand the need for yet another pitcher.
  17. Probably. At any rate, the 1906 Cubs team went 116-36 for a .763 win percentage. Projected to a 162 game season, .763 x 162 = 123.6 games. So to truly beat the 1906 Cubs, you need to win 124 games. Gulp. And by the way, the Cubs lost the world series that year.
  18. Huh, you're right. I must have been confused. I'm really surprised the Mariners got 116 wins and didn't even make the World Series.
  19. Btw, the Sox finally eclipsed the Astros today in Run Differential. They are +178 and the Astros are +177.
  20. That was July 11th. On July 31st, they are 75-33 with a .694 record. That actually only ticks them up to 112-50. Still have to find another 9 wins to beat the all-time record of 120 wins
  21. You may be right but I don’t think the Sox have any trade bullets left.
  22. I either want Pomeranz to perform really well or really poorly. A middle of the road performance perpetuates his limbo status.
  23. Wow, thanks for letting me know! Fingers crossed Ian will hit.
  24. Yes an all-farm system team would be impressive, although I think we're better with Sale, Kimbrel, and JDM. Just make sure you decided not to keep Ellsbury. The Yankees were out of their minds paying him that kind of money. Know when to walk away My general principle is to walk away from players who get injured often. So I wouldn't resign Pedroia, E-Rod, Pomeranz, or Wright when they hit free agency.
