  1. It's tough to get swept in a 4 game series.
  2. Well, the good news is, we're still in this game after 2 innings. The bad news is, we have to score more runs than we've scored in the first 3 games in order to win this.
  3. Well said. I have no idea what the Reds want for Leake, or what other teams want for similar pitchers, but a trade like this is not going to hurt the Sox short term or long term and may surprisingly even help more than some think.
  4. Ha! Who needs Yankees fans when we have Sox fans who can put the team down even more than they do?
  5. Yes, but also like a peach, he is good enough to keep even with a couple of bruises.
  6. Well, if you recall, the Sox really screwed up with one of his prior injuries by not getting an MRI done right away. Perhaps the Sox want the 2nd opinion as much as Buchholz does, to make sure that they didn't miss anything. I'm sure they are considering picking up his option for next season. They certainly don't want to do that if his arm is going to fall off within the first week of the season.
  7. Leake, or someone comparable, would be an improvement over what we've had so far this year. He would be an upgrade in the rotation, and perhaps spare the pen some innings.
  8. No one is claiming him that he's an Iron Man. However, there is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion for peach of mind. A lot of players do that.
  9. I hate rain delays.
  10. It is utterly amazing how futile this offense can be sometimes.
  11. We were posting at the same time. You know what they say about great minds.
  12. What I read was that he was going more for peace of mind than for any real concern. Not that we should necessarily believe that.
  13. Of course we would all rather have an ace, and we might get one, more for next year and beyond than for this year. For this year, someone like Leake is exactly what I think the FO will look for. He's not a game changer, but if the other guys can pitch decently, he can certainly provide some help. And the main point is, he shouldn't cost much.
  14. I have no delusions either, but I'm not giving up yet. It ain't over 'til it's over. Go Sox!!!
  15. It's an interesting question. I'm sure having Hanigan behind the plate helped. The question is, how much of an effect does he and will he have?
  16. Kazmir is sort of in between. He is someone I could see Ben checking into, but because of his low ERA, I think his price will be more than he is worth. He is currently outperforming his peripherals. I am thinking of someone more along the lines of Mike Leake. I don't think it would take as much to get him as it would to get Kazmir.
  17. For the most part, I agree with this. It wouldn't be very prudent of Ben to give up top prospects for a top of the line starter who won't help us beyond this season. However, if he could acquire someone who is locked up for several years, then that's a different story. I could see him doing that.
  18. LOL References to the chart crack me up every time.
  19. I disagree with that. If we were in first place, I think Ben would be more likely to go for the top of the line pitcher.
  20. LOL Bell, that was funny.
