  1. Well, I do want to stay under the cap, since Dombrowski went through the trouble of trading Buchholz to get under. If he had intentions of not staying under, then he should have just kept Buchholz. I think Dombrowski can find some relievers who are solid but also relatively inexpensive.
  2. Well, I'm not talking about closer or 8th inning types, but a solid middle reliever who could be picked up for fairly cheap. I don't consider that scrap heap. I haven't really looked, so I don't know who's available. But then, on top of that, I'd also like to see a few more scrap heap types who would be willing to sign minor league deals.
  3. I think that some of our pen problems last year stemmed from our rotation problems. For a while, the production we were getting from the #4 and #5 starters was abysmal. That took its toll on our pen. Having 3 starters who should routinely give us 7 innings, along with a stronger 4 and 5, should help to make our pen stronger, even with the same players.
  4. I don't either. If any of the 3 are going to be in the pen, it should be Pomeranz.
  5. For one, I would like Dombrowski to sign another reliever or two. For two, we don't know how shaky our pen will be, which is kind of the point of depth and flexibility.
  6. The league fees are not the issue. I know you all don't understand, but playing fantasy was very stressful for me in the last 3 years or so. The only reason I continued playing was because of the people I played with. It started off fun, but it became more of a chore for me. As I said earlier, after taking last year off, I may never go back to playing.
  7. I always let the computer draft my teams for me. Otherwise, there would be far too much second guessing and stressing myself out. Then, I would have my work cut out for me trying to figure out what to do with my 20 relievers and no catcher. LOL
  8. LOL That sounds like as good a reason as anything.
  9. I'm going to go with the two catchers, Vazquez to raise his OPS by 100, and Leon to drop by 100 points. I think Bogaerts will show some improvement, but 100 points is probably stretching it. And I think Pedroia will have a bit of a drop off, but again, 100 points is probably stretching it. Obviously, much of this depends on health.
  10. I honestly haven't watched wrestling enough to know about the sportsmanship of the sport. I have no doubt that your opinion regarding that is correct. I've always wondered why the wrestlers don't just wrestle at their current weight rather than going through those unhealthy eating habits to make a lower weight.
  11. Manny had his issues, and at times behaved in ways that were unbecoming of a professional athlete and of a human being, but I love the guy. Absolutely love the guy. He kept me entertained in many ways. IMO, it's crazy to try to come back at the age of 44, but I wish him the best.
  12. LOL I had to commit those things to memory also, along with several Shakespeare quotes. I can remember only certain pieces of them.
  13. I have no problem with Wright being in the rotation over the other two. My contention has always been to keep as much depth and flexibility as possible, in both the rotation and the bullpen. Good arguments have been made for and against each of the 3 being in the rotation. I'm fine with any of the 3. It's a good problem to have.
  14. What I don't like about wrestling is the way that wrestlers starve themselves in an unhealthy way for several days in order to make weight before a match. I have seen this in some of my friends when I was a high school student, and as a teacher, I have seen this in some students. Maybe it's my ignorance about the sport, but something doesn't seem right with that.
  15. I used to love playing jacks! Good stuff.
  16. LOL If there is a 'sport' that I wouldn't call a sport, it would be racing.
  17. Well, I would agree that the cheerleading that is done during a football or basketball game is not a sport. However, there is a whole world of competitive cheerleading which I would classify as a sport. I'm thinking it's similar to gymnastics.
  18. I disagree about Smith over Moreland, as I think Moreland fit the team's needs better. Were there better alternatives to Moreland? Perhaps, but as you said, his signing will not make or break our season.
  19. I agree. Maybe Smith will be the better overall player in a vacuum, maybe not, but I think Moreland is a better fit for our team.
  20. Exactly. I feel the same way when some posters here post about specifics of games from 1976 or something. OTOH, there are some really off the wall things/facts in my memory that I am somehow able to remember. It's odd how the brain works.
  21. If I were going to play again, I'd play in the league I played in up until last year. I like to have some competition when I play.
  22. It makes a big difference that I can't access the fantasy sites during work. It also makes a big difference that when I get home from work, I have 2 kids to take care of. They are older, but they still need my time and attention. As I said, I played up until last year. I did quite well in most leagues, even with the limited time that I had, but it was stressful and frustrating for me. It's too bad if you can't understand that. As far as your 'coward' and 'fear of humiliation' statements, what are you, in junior high? That doesn't work on adults.
  23. To set the record straight, I don't have 3 months off. I have 10 weeks off. Not that it matters, but I want to point that out. I don't get off until approximately June 16th. By then, we are 2 1/2 months into the season. The season is almost half over. I go back to work during the last week of August. There is a full month plus of baseball after that. Even though I have time off in the summer, that doesn't help me much with the fantasy season.
  24. You said that much more succinctly than I did.
