  1. He needs to regain that 'elite' status if he's going to try to beat out a better hitting catcher. IMO, how he handles the staff is the most important aspect of his defense. Pitchers seem to really like throwing to him.
  2. I think we've all been ready for some baseball pretty much since last season ended. We have to get past winter first. What is up with the forecast of snow (albeit only 1 inch) for my area this weekend??? That is insane! Go baseball!
  3. He is fine. He was pulled because of the upcoming schedule.
  4. And no once again.
  5. No, no, no, no, and no. The #3 hitter should be your 5th, maybe your 4th best hitter. Betts should bat either 2nd or 4th.
  6. I agree that it might be a little hasty putting Beni at the top of the order so soon. He may be able to handle it, but it's also a lot to put on the shoulders of someone who's still considered a prospect. I would start off batting him lower in the order.
  7. Perhaps it's not so much the pitches per PA as the IP per start. ERod averaged 5.4 innings per start, which was better than Pomeranz' 5.2, but more than an inning less per start than Porcello, Price, and Wright.
  8. I don't have time to watch all of these early round games. I am already about 4 games behind. LOL However, there has been some good baseball played so far. As others have mentioned, the WBC is a bigger deal in other countries than it is in the U.S. The Japanese fans are very much into it.
  9. Okay, fair enough. You would certainly know about that better than I would. I don't think that Price is deliberately trying to mislead anyone about his diagnosis. If he has misinterpreted what Dr. Andrews told him, I believe that someone would have pulled him aside and told him that what he believes was not the case. JMO
  10. Farrell said today that Price would start throwing on Friday or Saturday if he feels up to it. It sounds like Price is progressing well.
  11. I agree that Swihart needs to be given every opportunity to stick at catcher. I hope he is not moved off of that position this year.
  12. Ian Browne‏Verified account @IanMBrowne 2h2 hours ago Opposing scouts will be sending a lot of "Don't run on Vazquez" reports back to their teams. His arm is back in a big way. Good to hear.
  13. I agree. I read that article earlier and didn't find anything to be concerned about with Price's responses.
  14. Also, if Price is publicly falsifying what Dr. Andrews said, I would think Andrews would have some sort of law protecting him against having his reputation possibly called into question.
  15. I am not suggesting that Andrews would make a public statement. I would think he'd call Price or the team doctors and correct Price privately if Price is misinterpreting or falsifying what Dr. Andrews said.
  16. If they practiced it, it should be doable. The thing is, most of the better power hitters aren't typically spending a lot of time practicing their bunting.
  17. Price has made several comments about what Andrews and ElAttache said. Not just the diagnosis, but how they both said his elbow looked much better than what they thought they would see, and how Price has a unique elbow that heals itself. I would be very surprised if Price were making such statements falsely and neither doctor felt the professional or moral obligation to correct him. That said, I do agree that we won't really know what's going on until he pitches again, or doesn't.
  18. Oops, sorry for repeating what you said.
  19. Yes, they have said the issue is with the muscle, not the ligament.
  20. I don't think any of us 'know' that Price will be okay. All I've said is that I'm comfortable with what I'm hearing from Price and Farrell, which leaves me optimistic about him returning sooner rather than later. I fully understand that there's a good chance that he won't be ready to throw when they re-evaluate in 10 days, but nor do I think he will be out for 1/2 the season or more. As far as Price misinterpreting what Dr. Andrews said, I believe that if Price (or Farrell) were saying things that were not correct, someone would correct him privately. Maybe Dr. Andrews would contact Price himself, or the team doctors, who would certainly have the correct diagnosis given to them from Dr. Andrews himself, would correct Price.
  21. Absolutely. He might not correct it publicly due to privacy laws, but he would certainly notify Price and/or the team and let them know that what Price was saying was inaccurate.
  22. I don't discredit what Jacko says, medical wise or baseball wise. He is very knowledgeable in both fields. However, I do think he's trying to put a damper on the good news that we received.
  23. In!
  24. Jacko does have a tendency, as I think we all do, to "slant" things a little differently depending on whether he talking about a Sox player or a Yankees player.
  25. Andrews did say that Price's elbow is 'unique' and that it heals itself.
