  1. I am unhappy about Pedroia's comments about this recent incident, but outside of that, I'm not really understanding your anger towards the team. I love the players on this team and I'm happy with their level of 'toughness', or lack thereof, whichever the case may be. I'm not saying you're wrong to feel the way you do, just that I'm not getting it.
  2. I would expect a continued steady decline. I would not expect a cliff drop in the first year of his contract.
  3. I have stated what I believe are Ben's bad moves many, many times. And yet, every time I say that Ben was not responsible for the Pablo signing, I get this comment from you.
  4. Good find by Evan Drelich: "Dustin Pedroia has some explaining to do. Maybe he can clarify everything. Maybe he called Matt Barnes on Monday to explain what he meant when he told Manny Machado on the field for all the cameras to capture, “It’s not me, it’s them.” But the most prominent voice in the Red Sox clubhouse in a post-David Ortiz world definitely has some explaining to do. Let’s remember Pedroia’s words in 2012 during a radio interview with WEEI. The second baseman revisited famous comments he made about Bobby Valentine that season, when Pedroia spoke up in defense of Kevin Youkilis after Valentine was critical of Youk. “I’m proud to a point where, you know, to be a team leader, you need to have your teammates’ backs under any circumstances,” Pedroia said. “I felt like Youkilis was kind of thrown in a corner by himself. When the top dog comes down on you that hard, you know, I felt like Youk needed someone to be there for him to have his back. “I would rather have people calling [into radio stations] saying however they feel [about me] than for me to walk into work and have to look at Kevin Youkilis and have him say, ‘Hey, man. He didn’t have my back when I needed him the most.’ To an extent, I’m proud that I said that because Youk knows now that under any circumstances I’ll have his back. That goes for all my teammates. I love them.” Under any circumstances, Dustin? All of your teammates?
  5. Pedroia's and Barnes' comments today about the incident: Alex Speier‏ @alexspeier 1h1 hour ago Pedroia on Sunday's comments and whether he was calling out teammates: 'We all talked about that. We're going to keep it in house... Pedroia (cont): 'We all feel good about each other and we have each others' backs. Everybody knows how everyone feels about each other' Barnes on whether he was confused by Pedroia's comments: 'Absolutely not. Dustin's a great teammate.' More Barnes: 'Everyone in this clubhouse has one another's back. We're all a unit.' Farrell said Pedroia would have been in the lineup today. Farrell: 'I didn't feel any rift in the clubhouse because of what transpired. Any conversation that was needed was had.'
  6. Well, Machado made a 'mistake' with his late slide and he actually injured Pedroia. He was not penalized in any way. Ironically, there is a rule against late slides, to protect the infielders. There are no rules against chin music. Not that I'm in any way condoning throwing at someone's head. But I also do not believe Barnes was trying to hit Machado in the head.
  7. I really liked Ellsbury and was sad to see him go. JBJ has made me not miss Ellsbury in the least.
  8. That depends on whether he wanted to hand out those enormous contracts or he was pressured into doing so. I don't follow the Yankees closely enough, but I think Levine had a lot to do with ill spent money.
  9. Yeah, day/night double header that day. I don't know what happens with the tickets.
  10. Because he's fat?
  11. The Pablo contract just does not fit Cherington's MO at all. He was not going to be fooled by those postseason numbers either. I can see Hanley being a Cherington signing, but I'm not sure about that one.
  12. I did not like the signing, but I understood the rationale behind it. In other words, from a non contract point of view, it made sense to me. As others have said, Pablo should not have been this bad up to this point in his contract. Nobody could have foreseen that.
  13. I"m still pulling for you Pablo! To heck with all these guys who are glad that you're injured and have given up on you after 3 weeks.
  14. Good news indeed. Hopefully, there are no setbacks.
  15. Severino 1-1/ 4.05 Had an encouraging outing on Tuesday vs the White Sox, even if he didn't get the win, racking up 10 strikeouts over 8 innings. He also struck out 11 in his previous outing. Porcello 1-2/ 5.52 Had an up and down start to the season. After getting a win in his first start, has dropped his last two. He pitched well enough to win on Wednesday vs the Blue Jays, allowing three unearned runs on six hits over 7 innings. After the rain out, it appears that all pitchers are staying on turn. As nauseating as the Os are, for me, the Yankees remain the most nauseating team. They need to go down. Get it done boys! WIN!
  16. I think the circumstances of the game have to be taken into account. The last game was more of a blowout at the time of the 'retaliation', which IMO, is a good time to do it.
  17. Today's game is being made up on July 16. Bummer that your plans are getting rained out.
  18. I have actually always felt that Cashman is a good GM and could have done a better job without George and Levine sticking their noses in his business. Much like Theo and Ben having to deal with Lucchino.
  19. You are preaching to the choir. The Hardball Times is one of my favorite sites. It's a stat geek site!
  20. You have to have a good team to make it to the playoffs. That's just common sense. When you get to the playoffs, it's largely a crapshoot. The best indicator of postseason success is regular season success.
  21. You seem really angry at this team recently. Outside of Pedroia, I'm not sure why.
  22. lol
  23. You're quoting The Hardball Times???
  24. It really is all about me.
  25. The righty/lefty thing is probably more advantageous than all of these tweaks being suggested.
