  1. I am not a fan of his methods.
  2. Back in 3rd place folks! Now's as good a time as any to start our run.
  3. Yes, he has. He looked very good today and was very efficient with his pitches. As you said, good for him.
  4. Yes, he was going to until that long top of the 9th.
  5. Red Sox Stats‏ @redsoxstats 11h11 hours ago Price, Sale and Kimbrel have been worth 10 WAR so far at the cost of $217m, Moncada, Kopech, Basabe, Diaz, Margot, Allen. Guerra, Asuaje. The 17 other Dombrowski acquisitions have been worth 2.1 WAR at the cost of $18.5m, Espinoza, Shaw, Dubon, and 10 others. The $217m does not quite work at the two year point, but I think this gives a good overall picture of how Dombrowski has overpaid in putting this team together.
  6. OPS has a higher correlation, but OPS is a combination of two hitting stats, so it should have a higher correlation. OBP has a higher correlation than SLG. Getting on base is more important than power.
  7. Moon is still in my gang.
  8. I have a gang? Cool! Actually, I think 'my gang' has jumped ship. I'm all alone.
  9. That's exactly the point. Look at what Theo was able to do when he doesn't have to answer to a boss.
  10. Fair enough about the actual number of runners stranded. As I posted in another thread, there is still some disconnect between OBP and runs scored, however. No, this is not the offense that it was last year, but it's an offense that should be scoring more runs than it has.
  11. Our power numbers stink, which is a good part of why our OPS+ is mediocre. Some of our other offensive numbers have dropped recently, but we are still getting runners on base at a decent clip. There is still a disconnect between our OBP and our runs scored.
  12. I don't care how you do it team, just win the stinking game! Get it done boys!
  13. But every decision he made in the Cardinals series worked to near perfection.
  14. I really understood the rationale behind the trade, but the thing that gets me is that we had a chance to take back the trade and we didn't. I don't know what was in the medicals, but if there was anything sketchy, Dombrowski should have voided the trade.
  15. Pomeranz, like Buchholz before him, needs to stop doing any thinking on the mound. He needs to take a page out of Sale's book. Get the ball back, get the sign, don't shake off the catcher, and pitch.
  16. This is the truth. This team has been maddening and a big let down so far, but one thing we have on our side right now is the calendar. There's a long way to go. As Pedroia said, talk to me after they've played 162.
  17. Getting a lot of runners on base and having a lot of LOB is a sign of a good offense, not a bad one. Yes, there is a disconnect between these stats and the # of runs scored. Is it lack of clutch? Ha. I would be more inclined to call it a lack of experience, if anything. But really, I think it's just been a fluky thing. IMO, if we keep getting runners on base, the runs will come. When? I don't know. Like the rest of you, I'm still waiting.
  18. Pete Abraham‏Verified account @PeteAbe 4h4 hours ago Sale had an 0.91 ERA in his first four starts. He has a 3.34 ERA in five starts since. We're doomed.
  19. I think the Sox are going to wait a little longer to: 1. See what kind of an impact Price will have. 2. See what kind of contribution Pablo can make. Both should be returning within the next couple of weeks. Right now, our situation is still not so bad as to require 'panic' moves. The FO has implied that they don't think Devers is quite ready to make that jump, so bringing him up now would be a panic move, IMO.
  20. Of course. LOL What the heck, destroy what we have remaining of a farm system and get Quintana!
  21. Believe it or not, 20 runners left on base is really a sign of a good offense. They are getting men on. The fact that they're not scoring is kind of a fluke. If they continue getting runners on base, the runs will come.
  22. And who's to say that Ben and Theo didn't make very compelling cases and got overruled anyway. In the end, the boss is going to do what the boss wants to do. That's the bottom line, regardless of how good the GM is. Theo is living proof of that.
