  1. This is a very reasonable post.
  2. You may have a point about the media. However, things would certainly be much easier for Price if he's pitching well and winning than if he's not.
  3. I now believe that Price is legitimately injured, and that it would not be in the best interest to do a phantom DL, but I don't think the idea is that far fetched.
  4. 3.59 ERA in his last 7 games. 3.06 in his last 5 games. The team has 2 wins in those 7 games.
  5. I think it would be almost impossible to get a team to trade one of its star players at the end of May. Not with the 2nd wildcard in play.
  6. We look pathetic right now, but we will still very likely be playing October baseball. It will get better.
  7. Porcello has been pitching better of late. No, he was not great last night, but most of the time, 7IP with 4ER is good enough. With a 'normal' offense, which clearly we don't have, I'm satisfied with that line. Last night's game is not on Porcello, nor are the 6 losses in his last 8 starts.
  8. Once again, Porcello was not great, but he and the bullpen were good enough to keep the team in the game. We should be able to win a fair share of these games where our pitchers give up 4 runs, but lately we seem to lose every one of them. Our offense has been brutal in July. Personally, I think our team has another good run in them.
  9. I can't imagine that there's even a rule about moving the on deck circle. Has anyone ever done that before? However, showing up the ump? That'll get you tossed almost every time. The game is all about them, after all.
  10. I agree completely, on both counts.
  11. People are just commenting that we have 2 tough series coming up. No one's wetting their pants.
  12. This is my opinion as well.
  13. I think Dombrowski will pull something off between now and the deadline. I don't know what that will be, but I don't see him doing nothing. Maybe the additions of Nunez and Devers will get the offense going. We can hope anyway. I have not yet heard what roster move is being made to make room for Nunez on the 25. I'm guessing Marrero. This has been an extremely frustrating season. The team needs to get it going.
  14. After reading more opinions on the matter, I am recanting my conspiracy theory opinion and agreeing that the elbow inflammation is indeed the reason for the DL stint. Either way, it's still not good, but maybe it's a minor thing and Price just needs to skip a couple of starts.
  15. I am never a fan of this type of contract, but honestly, if one were going to be given out to a 30 year old pitcher, Price is the type of pitcher who is the surest bet. I don't think anyone could have foreseen things going this badly in the first two years of this contract. And things can still certainly turn around. Just say no to long term free agent contracts.
  16. Time to turn all of this negative crap around and get back to the winning ways.
  17. If nothing else, he has recouped some of his trade value.
  18. Evan Drellich 2m Source: It’s been decided. David Price is going to the 10-day disabled list.
  19. Buster Olney 9m David Price had an MRI on his pitching elbow Thursday. You may be right.
  20. I am hoping it is just a way to get Price out of the limelight for a while. IMO, it wouldn't be a bad idea to give Price 10 days, not only to get away from the controversy, but also to rest his arm, whether it's needed or not. I think having his next start be away from Fenway would be a good idea.
  21. That's a very good in depth analysis.
  22. We need Price to be right for the remainder of the season. I hope he can be that pitcher for us. I don't like his recent behavior, but unlike a few people, I won't be pulling for him to get shelled or for the team to lose. I certainly would never wish injury upon a player. Nothing will win over the crowd and the media faster than good performances and winning. In an ideal situation, Price would pitch like the ace we thought we were getting. If he can do that, much of this controversy would go away.
  23. Maybe it's just my conspiracy theory, but the timing of it seems a little too convenient. I can't see Price getting a favorable reaction from the crowd tonight. And if Price pitches poorly, it will make things that much worse. I think this might be the FO's way of trying to somewhat divert the matter. Give it some time to blow over. Give Price some time to get his head on straight. Or, he could very well be feeling the elbow 'bark' again. Who knows?
  24. From what I've read, it will be hard for the team to stay under the tax limit next year. They want to reset this year so that they will have the leeway to do what they want financially next year without worrying about the extreme penalties.
