  1. GMs overpay for players all the time. Dombrowski bid against himself for Price. Dombrowski is a wise man and a better GM than any of us. But you do give him too much credit. I'm sorry, but it just isn't that hard to acquire players by overpaying for them, especially when you're paying with prospects that were already at your disposal.
  2. All that's been reported is that prayers are still needed for Lydia. This is not to blame Kimbrel in any way, because obviously his daughter comes first, but the Sox may be in need of another closer. Kimbrel is still in Boston. He's throwing, but even if he is physically ready, will he be mentally and emotionally up to the task? I know if my child was critically ill, I would not be able to perform my job at my best level.
  3. But then you create a cliff.
  4. As I've said before, none of the deals taken individually are terrible, though Dombrowski did overpay for Sale and especially Kimbrel. What's terrible is the sheer magnitude of prospects traded away in such a short period of time.
  5. It's not even a quality start.
  6. Although the sloppy defense and 'stupid' baserunning from last year have continued into spring training. We may need to fire Cora.
  7. If I'm not mistaken, it was an infield hit, so I'm not sure if that even counts.
  8. We could have held on to some of those prospects and still had a strong, contending team. Wanting to hold onto the prospects is not being okay with mediocrity.
  9. So many people do not have the common sense that Notin and Kimmi have.
  10. I wouldn't say that we already lack the depth, but I get what you're saying. We do need a lot to go our way (ERod and Pom returning quickly, and everyone staying healthy), which could be asking a lot.
  11. Mookie got a hit!!! Mookie got a hit!!!
  12. No one's freaking out. We do have some legitimate health concerns with our rotation. They may end up being fine. They just as easily might end up not being fine. I just think that having as much depth and flexibility as possible makes good sense.
  13. Once again, I agree. Get as much depth as you possibly can. Johnson, Elias, and Velazquez will get their chances. What's the harm in having a couple of veteran guys around, just in case?
  14. I agree, and said something similar in another post. I won't blame him if the starting pitching is healthy but underperforms, but I will blame him if we lack the starting pitching depth that we need to get through the season.
  15. I love you too Nick.
  16. He overpaid in his trades too.
  17. If I agreed with you in the least little bit about all your puppet talk, I might be able to answer your question.
  18. He's talking about the cliff that Dombrowski left behind.
  19. I don't remember exactly who posted what, but from what I can remember, I think you are pretty reasonable in any criticism towards Dombrowski.
  20. This is correct, and Dombrowski will not be to blame if we lose due to our players underperforming this year.
  21. Absolutely not, quite the contrary. I was just trying to clarify your opinion on that. I have said many times that Dombrowski has done his job in terms of putting a winning team on the field. I am quite pleased with our team. I was quite pleased with our team before we signed JD. I have also said many times that all a GM can do is assemble a team that is a contender on paper. What happens on the field is beyond his control. I will definitely not blame Dombrowski if our team does not win. However, I will absolutely blame him when the cliff arrives. And I will criticize him for not getting another starting pitcher if Price, Pom, or ERod miss a good portion of the season due to injury. So my question is, why are you blaming Ben for the 2 last place finishes in 2015 and 2016? He did his job during the offseason.
  22. Ha. Touche'.
  23. So, if the Sox finish in last place, it is not Dombrowski's fault?
  24. I am not a fan of March Madness, but I had the Olympics to keep me occupied for the past two weeks. I developed a whole new enjoyment and appreciation for the cross country skiing events, in particular, the biathlon. I've always been intrigued by curling. I still don't understand all the strategies in the game, but the math and physics involved is inspiring. John Shuster, skipper of the US team, is my new hero. And the figure skating. 'Nuff said. Yes, I know I have strange tastes.
