  1. I can't disagree with that.
  2. Of course there is 'probably' about it. Look, I'm not trying to say it was an accident or that there was no intent. I am not disagreeing with your opinion on that. I think that his slide was intentional. But to state that he 100% intentionally went in with spikes up is stating your opinion as a fact, which it's not. It's your opinion.
  3. You may hate whatever player you want, Nick. As far as the rest of your post goes, I happen to agree with it.
  4. I have never had an issue with Holt, or with the Sox tendering him a contract this year. My belief is still that he brings value to the team just in his ability to play several positions, even though he doesn't play any of them very well. I give him a pass for last year, due to the concussion. I was and still am hoping that he will return to a player closer to his previous levels. He hasn't looked good yet, but it's a very small sample. All that said, I like what Lin brings to the team with his defense and speed. His bat has been better than Holt's. So, I would also keep Lin and send Holt to AAA.
  5. Well said Bell. Especially the part in bold.
  6. Any imperfections in the stat are going to be magnified with such a small sample.
  7. I completely agree that Walden's 3 innings were valuable. No argument there. Don't get me started on the 'save' stat. It's not just getting a save in a 10-3 game, it's pretty much everything about the stat.
  8. Last year he was injured. Do you not believe that? And when he came back, he was willing to do whatever the team needed him to do. He pitched out of the bullpen with no complaint. He seems a little overly sensitive to the criticisms that he reads in the press and on social media. But I don't see him as a player who makes excuses for his performance.
  9. Keep the streak going! Win!
  10. I loved them even before we signed JD. Then again, I loved them last year too.
  11. Don't get me started...
  12. First off, today's catch is probably not factored in yet. But either way, it's not just a small sample size, it's a way, way, way too small of a sample size. I don't think anyone would try to assess a player's offense based off of 11 games. For defense, trying to make such an assessment would be 3 times as bad.
  13. It should be over. From the Red Sox standpoint, I think they see the score as even. No telling what the viewpoint is from the Yankees clubhouse.
  14. I'm not sure why you and others assume that even if he continues to hit well this year and his option vests, that he will not continue to hit well next year. I realize that he's getting older, but Hanley really is a very good hitter when he's healthy.
  15. I agree that it was probably intentional, judging by his reaction. I'm just saying that either way, it was a bad slide and he should have know the plunking was coming.
  16. It's one of the unwritten rules of baseball. You come in with your spikes high, you're taking a pitch in the ribs. It must be done. Especially when you act like a punk about the infielder questioning it.
  17. Whether the intent was there or not, it was a bad slide, and Austin should know this. As Jack posted, Austin behaved like a punk in his reaction to Holt questioning the slide. He also behaved like a punk in his reaction to being plunked. Once again, Austin should have known it was coming and he should have just taken his base.
  18. I am not a Holt hater like some on here are, but based on what I've seen so far, Holt would be the odd man out for me, especially since he has an option.
  19. Red Sox Stats ‏ @redsoxstats 21m21 minutes ago That's hilarious, kids at the hospital asked Holt if he was Swihart's wife... so Holt cut his hair.
  20. Price pretty much did that his entire first season with the Red Sox. While he was pretty good, he was also not the ace that we were all expecting, and he took a lot of criticism for it. He made no excuses. He simply said that he didn't execute and that he would have to do better next time.
  21. I am absolutely in with this. Joe Kelly is the man.
  22. I agree with you. And I'm a big Vaz fan. Varitek would have been all over that.
  23. Kelly is my new favorite Red Sox reliever. Good on him.
  24. Kudos to Thunder for the 9 game win streak mojo. No time like tonight for the Red Sox to start another win streak. Let's go!
