  1. As I said elsewhere, I get the logic behind DFAing Hanley. I don't like it one bit though, especially so early in the season.
  2. There is a response to this with Slasher's name written all over it.
  3. A Swihart/Moreland platoon at first base doesn't make much sense either.
  4. Which kind of takes me back to my point. Balls and Strikes are very subjective. IMO, they are more subjective than any advanced metric. Yet, none of the people who discount WAR and UZR because of its subjectivity ever criticize the validity of stats like Ks and BBs.
  5. But they still have plays where they leave it to the discretion of the umpires as to the placement of base runners. I don't see the difference.
  6. As I said, there is a lot of BS being flung today. Dombrowski and Cora took a big time hit on my like-ability chart. And yes, they're both going to lose sleep over that.
  7. I would slot Pedroia in the 3 hole, taking over Hanley's spot. From what I've read though, it sounds like Cora doesn't plan to bat Pedroia higher than 6th to begin with.
  8. The answer to either question for me is "no".
  9. No, I don't. I'll give you that.
  10. Now that Hanley's gone, Cora is open to the idea of giving Swihart some playing time behind the plate. Good logic there, Cora.
  11. Well, that's kind of what I figured. LOL I can see the logic behind the move. I don't like it though and I especially don't like the timing of it.
  12. And Dombrowski also said this move has nothing to do with Hanley's option. Seriously Dave, just shut up.
  13. He has been in a terrible rut, I won't deny that. Very frustrating to watch.
  14. Well, he might not have if he were going to become a permanent bench guy. But I think Cora could have given Moreland some more playing time, along with giving Hanley enough playing time to keep him happy and to see if he could get it going. This whole thing just doesn't sit well with me.
  15. Not according to Dombrowski.
  16. I saw that post. I'm not sure that I'm buying that you really believed it would happen. But if you say you did, I'll take your word for it.
  17. No, I'd rather the FO didn't act so rashly. They had other options which could have kept Hanley on the roster for at least a little bit longer. In the meantime, Cora could have given Moreland more playing time if that's the way he felt.
  18. Because they can sign him for cheap, and he still has the potential to be a very good hitter. Believe me, he will not be unemployed for long. Someone will take a chance on him.
  19. A lot of fans have been calling for Hanley to be released for a long time. They are also calling for JBJ to be released, Vaz/Leon to be released, Nunez to be released, Holt to be released, and I could go on and on. Anyone who is being honest would have to admit that Hanley being released is not a move that they saw coming today.
  20. Let me go on record as saying that I'm not a fan of the move. Let me also go on record as saying that there was an awful lot of BS being flung by Dombrowski in his press conference today. Just when I was starting to like the dude a little more....
  21. Amen, brother Slasher.
  22. He will be quickly picked up by another team.
