  1. I get the logic behind it. I just don't agree with it. And I think the whole 'story' behind how it went down has left a sour taste in my mouth.
  2. LOL Post of the day! I keep saying that the reason Yankees fans hang out on Red Sox boards is because who the heck wants to hang out on a Yankees board? We, OTOH, are very cool.
  3. I am just wondering why the Sox didn't rate him well enough to get these at bats while Hanley was here. Once Hanley was released, they finally see the value in Swihart?
  4. To me, it was all about the vesting option. If he didn't have it, do you think he would have been released? I think most of us would have to answer that question with a 'no'. Therein lies the rub with me. I realize he had a terrible May. JBJ has had a terrible season outside of maybe 2 weeks. Devers has had a terrible May. Leon and Swihart have had terrible seasons for the most part so far this year. They are all being given the chance to work their way out of their slumps, and rightly so. I just don't agree with his release so early in the year. It does cut into our depth, especially with right handed bats.
  5. I will believe that Pedroia is done when he believes that he is done.
  6. I was not implying that we don't have good hitters on the team. Far from that. I was trying to point out that our depth took a hit with the release of Hanley, regardless of the number of runs we have scored since his release.
  7. Welcome to my world.
  8. ESPN game tonight, but at least it's starting a half hour earlier than the usual Sunday Night Game. 7:30 start time.
  9. Price is a top #2, at worse. IMO, he's still a #1 pitcher, though I would no longer classify him as an 'ace'.
  10. I'm not giving up on Pedey so soon. I have learned they you don't count him out. I am confident that he will be back and will contribute to the team.
  11. I don't think the medical staff is at fault here, but they don't have the best reputation of 'diagnosing' things correctly.
  12. Thunder! Never, under any circumstances, do you put your fantasy team ahead of the Red Sox. Never! The Sox need to score against Morton early and often! Get it done, boys!
  13. Speed should really not be a factor in determining your leadoff hitter. Speedsters actually do more damage batting 6th or 7th, in front of the weaker bats at the bottom of the order. There's not as much need to put a speedy runner in front of your power hitters.
  14. Long season to go. I am in no way ready to hand the division crown over to that Evil team. The Sox will hold their own.
  15. I would be okay batting Mookie 1st, 2nd, or 4th. IMO, his talents are somewhat wasted batting him in any other spot. I think JD is the perfect cleanup hitter, so having Mookie 1st or 2nd makes more sense. I would bat Mookie 5th before I batted him 3rd. But that's just me.
  16. I am very pleased with Beni's performance lately. It's great when your All Star lead off hitter goes down, and someone else can step in that spot, and perform almost just as well. When Jackie's hitting out of the 9 spot (and Vaz and Leon out of the 8 spot, to a lesser degree), it puts a different light on the importance of Mookie leading off. I would actually be okay with Beni hitting first and Mookie 2nd, but I prefer it the other way around.
  17. Great win all around! A little too much drama from Kelly, but he limited the damage. Price pitched a great game. Hembree and Kimbrel were money. It's nice to see Beni pick up right where Mookie left off. And good for Vazquez! Woohoo!
  18. Devers will be fine. The Sox offense will be fine. Sale will be fine. The Red Sox will be fine. Even if we get swept in Houston.
  19. Pedroia will be back soon and he will contribute to the team. Book it.
  20. JD Martinez > Stanton
  21. The thing is, for the leadoff hitter, OBP is king. Besides Mookie seeming to be extremely comfortable in that spot, his OBP is 57 points higher than the next guy on the team. Mookie may not get the RBI opportunities, but the guy is creating runs off the chart.
  22. JD should hit clean up. End of discussion.
  23. The Sox new winning streak starts tonight. Let's go!
