  1. Well, I agree to an extent, which is why I am strongly opposed to the 'win now at any cost' philosophy.
  2. He did have a rough day defensively, but he appears to be coming alive offensively.
  3. Yeah, we were. It was a very entertaining series. Outside of the Ms announcers who are rather annoying.
  4. The thing is, there were several other options that could have kept Hanley from being DFA'd so early in the season.
  5. I have been lamenting the Hanley DFA since it happened. I don't think it was the right move in terms of baseball moves. I know how bad Hanley's numbers were in May. He was pretty good in April though. I don't think Hanley would make or break the team, and I think our offense is fine without him. That being said, I do think he would contribute positively to the team for the remainder of the season.
  6. The Astros remain the team to beat. That said, neither they nor the Yankees scare me. The Sox can hang with either one of them IMO. Bring it!
  7. That's really going to suck for you guys.
  8. Can't complain about splitting the series. It would have been nice to win one more, but oh well. Xander had a very nice series both offensively and defensively. Our starting pitching rocks!
  9. The Red Sox started the season off 5-0 in one run games. Since then, they have gone 8-8 in one run games. The Astros are 6-12 in one run games. Just sayin'.
  10. I agree with you about JBJ. There is no rationale for trading him right now, so we just have to hope he will go on one of his tears. I've been reading a lot about the Sox getting him to start bunting more often, which makes all the sense in the world. I really don't have a problem with Beni in the 2 hole. IMO, he's been fine in that role after a somewhat shaky start. Devers currently has no business batting clean up.
  11. I wanted Swihart to be given a chance at some regular playing time. He has been given that chance and has not been able to take advantage of the opportunity. Sadly, I think it is time to part ways with him. #BringBackHanley
  12. And what about the Yankees with all of their young players who are still in diapers? Are they ready to win in the post season?
  13. No, the slide is not why he is a punk. He was a punk well before the slide.
  14. And yet, the Sox hit Paxton pretty hard 2 nights ago. For all of the weaknesses that our team supposedly has, we are 2nd in MLB in run differential behind only the Astros. I still think the Astros are the team to beat, but don't sell the Red Sox short.
  15. You build a team to get to the postseason. That's the main goal because the playoffs are largely a crapshoot. Of course fans will be disappointed if their team loses in the divisional round, but that doesn't mean the season was a failure.
  16. It was a good game. Frustrating, but good. Tip your hat to LeBlanc and move on.
  17. Wright has been fantastic, and our rotation as a whole has been pretty darn good. This team will be fine.
  18. I don't think that's the case at all. The team we have this year can compete with anybody, especially in a short series. They dumped Ramirez to free up the $22 million for next year, but it had nothing to do with them thinking this year's team wasn't good enough. I think it was a mistake to drop Hanley so early in the season. I've said that all along. Hanley might not have made that much of a difference. Then again, he might have.
  19. That is just nuts. If Dombrowski does a move like that, I will disown him.
  20. Today's line up: 1. Mookie Betts ® RF 2. Andrew Benintendi (L) LF 3. J.D. Martinez ® DH 4. Rafael Devers (L) 3B 5. Xander Bogaerts ® SS 6. Eduardo Nunez ® 2B 7. Blake Swihart (S) 1B 8. Christian Vazquez ® C 9. Jackie Bradley Jr. (L) CF Moreland gets the night off, and Devers moves into the clean up spot. Oye.
  21. Of course managers make mistakes. However, I feel the majority of what we deem to be mistakes are not mistakes. I wouldn't call using Kimbrel with that 4 run lead a mistake. I was surprised to see him in the game, meaning that if I were the manager, I don't think I'd have used him, but that doesn't mean it was a mistake. The decision to use him is certainly defensible.
  22. The problem with Holt, Nunez, and Moreland to a lesser extent, is that they are not meant to be everyday players. Their value and also their production shines best when they are used in bench/platoon roles.
  23. I just think he's a punk, and the takeout slide is a part of it.
  24. I feel good about tonight's game. We got this!
