  1. Ha. I love this.
  2. Oh I'm not counting them out at all. I believe they are a much better team than the As. Up until very recently, I thought they were the best team in baseball and the team to beat. Now, I believe the Red Sox are that team, with the Astros following in a close 2nd. Once the Astros regain their health, they might once again become the team to beat.
  3. My money is on Price and the Sox offense. WIN!!!
  4. Here's a cool tweet from fellow CFer Keirmeier: Kevin Kiermaier ‏Verified account @KKiermaier39 2 hours ago Hey @JackieBradleyJr i hate to see u rob my teammate T Pham an extra base hit but its hard to be mad at ya because that play was absolutely ridiculous. Good lawwwd jbj. #TipOfTheCap to that one my friend
  5. It's not just batting average, it's overall offensive production. Either way, yes, there are going to be particular games or particular situations in which the 'protected' batter comes through. There are going to be times when the 'protected' batter does not come through. That is the case even without protection in the line up, isn't it?
  6. Good game between the two teams last night.
  7. For the longest time, I believed the Astros were the team to beat. I no longer believe that's the case.
  8. So true. And even if there were an apparent 'lopsided' match up, there is no predicting what will happen in a postseason series.
  9. By all accounts, Devers is a very hard worker. Mike Lowell had some very nice praise for Devers when working with him during spring training. The defense hasn't come along as quickly as we'd like, and the hitting seems to have taken a step in the wrong direction, but I really do think we need to have patience with him. He's so young. He has shown that he can hit at every level. The pitchers have adjusted to him and now he needs to adjust back. As far as defense goes, Adrian Beltre made 29 errors in his first full season with the Dodgers. Once again, Devers is very young. Patience.
  10. Cora commented last night that they are happy with Devers' weight and that the weight is not the reason for the hamstring injuries. I don't think I'm buying that one.
  11. ^^This too.
  12. Cash does deserve a lot of credit for the Rays being where they are.
  13. Yeah it was. You have to give credit where credit is due. Also, JBJ just doing his thing out there.
  14. Sounds like one of those phantom DL stints.
  15. We should have signed him when we had the chance. He was worth the risk of a minor league contract.
  16. You lost me. Which isn't hard to do.
  17. As of now, in terms of who I think the Sox would have the easiest time beating, I would rather face the Yankees than either the Astros or the Athletics. That said, I prefer the Yankees get eliminated in the wildcard game, so my next choice would be the Athletics.
  18. My desired opponent in the playoffs would be the Baltimore Orioles.
  19. No, not true for the most part. 1. Stat geeks understand the shortcomings of WAR. 2. You are making a far bigger deal out of the 17% margin of of error than it is.
  20. No argument here. I completely agree.
  21. I don't see how better opportunities really matters if the results are no different. Perhaps the opportunities are increased, but a batter's numbers do not improve because he has good hitters protecting him in a line up.
  22. I agree with that completely. That said, since the Marlins did hit Acuna, retaliation is 100% in order. I am a strong believer in the unwritten rule of having your teammate's back.
