  1. I am sure Dave will go 4 years. I wouldn't, but Dave will.
  2. I know. Thank you Dave. Sincerely.
  3. FTR, I have always thought it was silly to blame Farrell for Wright's injury.
  4. I find it interesting that the Yankees have said that they are unwilling to go 4 years on Eovaldi.
  5. It is possible to have a better balance between short and long term goals. Dombrowski was 'all in' for the short term, with little regard for the long term. It paid off, short term. However, is it possible that we could have won the WS this year without having gone 'all in'? It would not only have been possible, but it would have been probable. So, we only win 99 games in the regular season instead of 108. Who cares?
  6. There's a thought.
  7. I don't know, but that doesn't change the fact that most of a 10 year contract for Mookie will be for past prime years.
  8. Et tu, Brute?
  9. I would be a lot more impressed with Dombrowski if he had torn the team down, then built it back up from scratch. He didn't. The 'one of the best teams of all time' that he 'created' was already 2/3 created when he arrived in Boston, and the 1/3 that he did 'create' would not have been possible without the strong farm system that he didn't create but did manage to ruin, and without the numerous cost controlled players that were already part of the 2/3 that he didn't create. I'm not impressed with his acquisitions of Price, Sale, and Kimbrel. I am far more impressed by his under the radar moves in 2018.
  10. Are you calling me ridiculous? Ha.
  11. I'm not advocating trading Mookie, but I think that there is some merit to the idea.
  12. I have no idea what that theoretical trade would be. I don't know other teams' systems well enough to even know where to begin. Even if we couldn't get back the same value that we are getting from Mookie, I think that we could get close enough that it would make sense to make the trade when you factor in the money you'd be saving on Mookie's long term contract. If the Sox don't think there's a reasonable chance of signing Mookie long term, it would make even more sense to trade him for some pretty good value before he walks away as a free agent.
  13. All I can say is thank goodness it never happened.
  14. He didn't sell himself short. He just prioritized something over money. It's not like he's going to starve to death on $6 mil. Good for him.
  15. I would prefer to keep our tandem of Vaz and Leon, and use the money saved on pitching. Our position players and line up are fine.
  16. This is the post of the thread. Something we finally 100% agree on.
  17. Unfortunately, yes. But to clarify, most of the years of a 10 year contract will be past prime years.
  18. Perhaps, but he does post a lot of stuff that I agree with.
  19. Large contracts have repeatedly been proven to not work.
  20. Trading 3 months of Miller for 6 years if ERod is a move that you make every day of the week. That's a no-brainer.
  21. My apologies to you for any comments I make or have made about our weak farm system.
  22. I don't disagree. Having a bare cupboard has been worth it. Just don't deny (not you personally) that the cupboard is indeed bare.
  23. You don't think we could get 2 plus players in return who would give us as much as Mookie? Then take some of the money saved from not paying Mookie $300+ mil to get back even more value. I'm not really advocating that we trade Mookie, just saying that it's something interesting to ponder. That said, I think trading him for some cost controlled players has merit over giving him that mega contract.
