  1. It is true that your leadoff hitter doesn't lead off every inning. But it is also true that your leadoff hitter will get more at bats over the season than any other spot in the order.
  2. I am with you 100%, Sir Notin.
  3. Speed is not that important for a lead off hitter. The reason is that you have the big lumber coming up behind the lead off guy, and they can get the runners in with home runs more often than the bottom of the order can. Kevin Youkilis would have been a great leadoff hitter.
  4. Cora does not want our regular 25 players going all out. He has seemingly been holding them back somewhat, probably due to the extended season last year. Cora showed last year that he knows exactly what he's doing. He often sat players when virtually the entire world disagree with him. In Cora We Trust.
  5. LOL Fred has actually not commented on our spring training W-L record. He is fretting a bit over our bullpen, though.
  6. Bad move. One that said fellow fantasy owner will come to regret.
  7. Devers will often make very difficult Gold Glove caliber plays that make you go "Wow!", then he'll turn around an boot a fairly routine play. I think he gets in his own head. He seems to do a lot better when he doesn't have time to think and just has to react instead. At any rate, I expect a fair amount of improvement from Devers this year, both offensively and defensively.
  8. The Sox are just toying with you. They have the Yankees right where they want them.
  9. Batting Mookie 1st versus 2nd will really not make much of a difference over the course of a season. Seriously, maybe 2 runs all season, all other things being equal.
  10. Plus, he may get more RBIs, but he'll likely score fewer runs. That more or less balances out.
  11. 'Nuff said, Brother Slash.
  12. We stink.
  13. I still think it's going to come down to which catcher brings the best in trade value. Not necessarily the best pieces, as that would be Vazquez, IMO, but the most bang for the buck.
  14. I think he will be. From everything I've read, the Sox are trying hard to extend him.
  15. Scouts are saying that Swihart has shown a lot of improvement over the past two years.

    New Rules!!

This has nothing to do with anything, but one of my students had a Yankees t-shirt on today. I about fell out.

I'm still trying to figure out LaRussa's role on the team.

    New Rules!!

With the 3 batter minimum rule coming up, expanded rosters won't be as big an issue. A manager won't be able to make 15 pitching changes in the final 5 innings.
  19. Devers is going to be our new #3 hitter.
  20. Sale will be here in 2020.
  21. Christian Vazquez for president.
  22. Cora is not going to let the players run the show. He is in complete charge. That said, one of the things that makes him such an effective manager is that he is willing to listen to his players and he takes their input into consideration. At least, that's my impression of how things are based of what I've read and seen. Pitchers who are really good can usually throw to any catcher and not miss a beat. However, if it gives a pitcher more confidence and comfort to throw to a certain catcher, and said pitcher and catcher have developed a relationship to the point where they know each other extremely well and are very effective together, why mess with a good thing?

    New Rules!!

Alex Speier‏ @alexspeier 22m22 minutes ago Tony Clark says that today’s agreement with MLB leaves him ‘cautiously optimistic’ about negotiations about possibility of new agreement on CBA prior to the expiration of current deal in 2021. Clark makes clear that the MLBPA wasn’t on board with the three-batter minimum rule for pitchers that will take effect in 2020. MLB chose to implement unilaterally.

    New Rules!!

It could be argued that requiring a pitcher to face 3 batters minimum would require more strategy.
